I was wondering if anyone here could elaborate on this thread from the EWTN expert Q & A…

ewtn.com/vexperts/showresult.asp?RecNum=438472&Forums=0&Experts=0&Days=3&Author=&Keyword=&pgnu=1&groupnum=0&record_bookmark=2&ORDER_BY_TXT=ORDER+BY+ReplyDate+DESC&start_at=

My question is on the last paragraph…

“Finally, the US had an Indult to allow EMCs to assist. However, it expired last month and I have not heard that it was renewed by the Holy See. That norm did allow purification, presumably after the manner of n.192.”

Does this mean the use of EMC’s is no longer licit? Anyone know if it will be renewed?

The question relates to the EMHC’s assisting in PURIFYING the vessels, NOT in the EMHC’s assistance with distributing communion.

The indult for the assistance in purifying the vessels was what ran out.

I should have been more careful in my reading. Thanks for the response!

So, can does this mean the guy wearing jean shorts and sun glasses sitting oh his head can’t clean the sacred vessels anymore?? What are we going to do???

Seriously, chances are it will be allowed right? I am only 32 but I remember when I was young after Holy Communion mass would last another 10-15 minutes as the priest cleaned the Vessels. Now our parish priest can hop right into the final blessings as Joe or Jane clean up and we can all get the heck out of there…sad…
