I have shown variances. I have even cited sources. I have explained and demonstrated what I meant by variances. Everyone reading this thread can see that. You seem to either have completely missed the point of my argumentation, or (again, like planten) you are ignoring it to avoid responding to the heart of the argument. I sincerely hope it is not the latter, because I would dislike seeing a good Muslim poster on CAF falling back on such dishonest tactics. In either case, to make the statement, “I asked to show me variants, but I guess you have no knowledge of the subject” when that person has in fact demonstrated and cited evidence for such variants openly and in the same thread is a sign of disrespect for the subject matter and the person this accusation is being said to.
give me a favor , and show me the variants you are talking about , i read all your posts to find it and i find nothing
The fact is, I understand the nature of the variances, but I am consistent in my argumentation. Muslims are not: a non-consequential variant in the Koran is shrugged off as normal while a non-consequential variant in the Bible is treated as a sign of malicious corruption by heretics. You cannot have double standards. When this topic comes up, textual variants are most often treated in either one of the two following categories:
  • Textual variants that do not affect a religion’s entire theology are merely a sign of transcribing and tradition.
  • Textual variants, no matter how small or non-consequential, are a sign of corruption.
The question in the OP was whether or not the Koran was corrupted. I used the standards set by Muslims for other religious texts (the second option listed) to maintain consistency when discussing the Islamic faith. If you do not like the standards set, you have only yourself and your fellow Muslims to blame.
if the OP asked about if the quran was corrupted or not , so you have to take under your consideration that quran revealed to the prophet orally not in text , and quran transmitted orally from generation to generation by dictation not by reading
untill these days , 1400 years later the quran still transmitting orally .
untill this days , if the arab muslims themselfs need to recite the quran correctly as it was revealed to the prophet , they should to learn it orally , the ability of reading arabic not enough to recite quran exactly as it was revealed to the prophet (pnuh) .

you missing this important fact B.W . the quran actually not presesrved untill these days by the text of Othman only , rather it was preserved and transmitted (and still transmitted) by oral teaching from generation to generation

and if you wanna to learn about that , then search about " ijazah"

Really? If you go to the first page of this thread and scroll to the bottom, where my post is, you will find my post where I discuss various variants, not only grammatical but also entire phrases.

I’m sorry, but the one missing the important fact is yourself. I think I’ve made my point clear, but I will elucidate it some more: Muslims, not only on this forum but in public debate, have always argued that the text of the Koran is perfect and has no variants, and point to variants in the Bible as evidence of corruption. The fact is, if we are going to be consistent, we have to hold that standard to the Koran. What do we find? Variants. Not only grammatical changes, spelling errors, etc, but also phrases found in certain textual traditions.

As I said, variants that have no theological contradictions are of no matter to me, but if a faith is going to criticize another faith’s holy book because of inconsequential variants while shrugging off the variants within its own book, then that religion is essentially forcing its followers to hold double standards. This is what we find in Islam.

Again, these standards for what “corruption” is were not set up by me, but by Muslims who enter into debate with Christians. All Christians ask for is consistency. Let us be like Elijah and allow each side to state its case - if one side has to play double standards in order to look correct, then that points to a sign of falsehood and self-condemnation.
