For the last year or so, I have noticed during the opening of the LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST PRAYERS that someone always leads the congregation from sitting to standing (during the prayer) while the congregation is responding to the preist:
Priest: Pray, my brothers and sisters, that our sacrifice
may be acceptable to God, the almighty Father.
All: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands,
for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good, and the good of all his Church
Since when have we ever moved from sitting to standing during a prayer? I have noticed this at several masses in several different churches. Was this something that the USCCB instituted and all are doing it as new rubrics or is this (a small) abuse?
It almost feels chaotic to me, does anyone know the truth behind this new practice?
Thank you, I am just curious
