Has this ever happened to you? Three times already I’ve spooked myself. Twice I was talking with co-workers that are not Catholic nor do they attend church. After a while of listening to them talk, I became frightened. It’s as if the content of their talk suddenly scared me. Then today, I was reading some Holloween poetry, and again I became frightened. I do pray everyday including praying to St. Michael and do attend mass. I try to think about Jesus and Mary in everything I do. Sometimes I can tell who has Jesus in their life and who doesn’t just by listening to what they talk about. Should I increase my prayers including prayers for my co-workers?

There was one stage I went through where I was going through a lot, think I was beginning to become a little bit unbalanced, mentally and emotionally.

Anyway, I thought I couldn’t be around people that were sort of like how you describe.

However, since I’ve become more stable, I can be around all kinds of people, with the faith, without and in all kinds of situations. Some I would choose to be around more, some not.

Still, I’m stronger where I can now withstand it if they aren’t as pure and holy, because I see it as them, not me.

Fewer things scare me, now. I have one student who used to be in a street gang, and he still has some tendencies in that line. I can even be with him.

I believe that now, if anything, I’m in a better position to be of help. I am more aware what is them and what’s me. What is them, I don’t take personally. I work with people also who have some mental problems. Again, I’ve had some, in the past, I’ve had one say some really awful things to me. I don’t take ANY of it personally any more.

I am clear…“That’s them…this is me”. They can actually even insult me, and I can often have it roll right off me, because I don’t allow any of that enter me. It’s as if I shield myself.

By not becoming easily scared, hurt, I am MUCH stronger helping them. They could cuss me out, and I could look at them, blink, ask them if they’re having a bad day! 😉

It is scary to live in the secular world when you have faith. Praying for your coworkers is a charitable and loving thing to do, and it will not only help bring them to the Lord, but it will bring you closer to Him too. Also continue to pray for protection and for the strength of your faith to grow.
