My mom works as a nurse. Her belief in an afterlife has been reinforced through hospital experiences.

Here and there. Overall I could say yes but the new worry is about keeping in a state of grace as well as for my loved ones who do not believe.

At some point we all must face death. I cannot say that I will go to Heaven or I will go to Hell, but I am confident that God knows what is right for me. I am hopeful that I am worthy of His Kingdom. As such, yes, it has.

Surrender to God has relieved almost all my anxieties including death.

Well, I’m almost 24 years old and in peak physical condition, so I really don’t have any immediate fear of death.

Rather, faith in Christ, and in God, is what gives me any reason to take humanity, knowledge, and even existence seriously. If I were an atheist, I would be a frighteningly consistent amalgamation of Friedrich Nietszche, H.P. Lovecraft, and Ayn Rand. I would embrace my will to power over other people and be guided only by my own survival instinct and self-interest, even though none of that would really matter in a godless universe, since, as Lovecraft illustrated, human life is not important in the cosmic scheme of things.

In a nutshell, if atheists had any consistency, they’d be the harbingers of the kind of anarchistic free-for-all you’d see in a Mad Max movie. But instead, they hide behind the fig leaf of “secular humanism”.

There were times in my career as an electrician when the possibility of death was more apparent, like energizing large switchgear for the first time (with the possibility of an explosion), or working at great heights (which I never enjoyed). I would say my faith made me more resigned to the possibility, and gave me some measure of peace through trust in God.

I still worry some about an especially painful or unpleasant death, and of course about not being in a state of grace when my time is up, but I am not overly anxious (thank God!).

Ave Maria!

Greatly…

This prayer recently has also greatly assisted…
My Lord God, even now I accept at your hands, cheerfully and willingly, with all its anxieties, pains and sufferings, whatever kind of death it shall please you to be mine. Amen.
(7 years indul. each time.)
Jesus, Mary Joseph, I give you my heart and my soul. Jesus, Mary, Joseph assist me in my final moments. Jesus, Mary, Joseph, may I breathe forth my soul in peace with you. Amen.
At the end of day, Christian perfection comes from our unity with the Divine Will of God and accepting His plan us.

God Bless

Certainly so! I do trust in Christ’s salvation, if one so chooses to accept it as it is.

I hope that others can do the same, and if they do not bring themselves to it, they shall at the very least realize G-d’s mercy to its full extent.

I’ve never had any anxiety about death, so the answer is “no.”

Yes and no.
I hope I am doing enough of the right things on earth to be worthy of getting to heaven.

it’s not death that I worry about–it’s about where I’m going and for how long that has me worried.

I’ll be in purgatory until end of time - that is if I’m wanted by God. If not, elevator down.

Either which way, death is fearsome.

The more I think about it, fear of death has little to do with ones level of faith, no matter what you believe, death is coming for us all, and no one knows what it is like to experience, but we do know 1 thing, its going to be MUCH MUCH different than the world we are used to living in…that is the problem, we are all used to THIS life and THIS world, we are familiar with things here, we know how things work here.

I carry a blessed Green scapular in my wallet, and say the prayer each and every day that is on the scapular. Mary gave us this with one of the promises being that she would see to it that we have a peaceful death. I trust her for she is the mother of Jesus and would not make such an offer of love is she did not mean it. So I dont worry about death because I’m in her hands.

I know … this doesn’t give me a license to do anything I want.

So the fear is of the unknown. But if on has faith and can surrender to God’s unknown plan, fear is diminished.

But sometimes anxiety seems detached from any intellectual activity at all. As if the body flips a switch and reacts *as if *there is a danger when there is not. But even then I wonder if it is not a deeper unconscious general fear of life, a mistrust of the entire plan.
