Has that guy been taking lots of drugs or something. I think Protestants are just jealous; they would be nothing without us. I feel bad for that guy’s wife.
We all have some jealousy in us. Saying that you feel bad for that guy’s wife makes you jealous in a way. I seen a documentary today on EWTN with Mother Angelica and I honestly recommend any that has the opportunity to have EWTN to watch it. Most bad feelings we have towards others is a result of jealousy in some form or another

I firmly believe that Ant-Catholicism is the new prejudice.

Please read this (written by A CHRISTIAN!) and tell me if these words are at all Christ-like:
"You need to learn more about the heresies of Roman Catholicism, well at least learn SOMETHING about Roman Catholicism before you shoot of your mouth about it! To say that some of the major doctrines of Roman Catholicism are off, shows that you have hardly (if any) knowledge of Roman Catholicism! Roman Catholicism is complete HERESY and GARBAGE!

I was born and raised in an area that was and is 85% Roman Catholic! The Roman Catholic Church Rectory where the Priests lived was 8 houses away from my parents house! My wife was raised in Roman Catholicism. You have NO IDEA whatsoever how evil and deadly Roman Catholicism is!! Tolerate it if you wish, that is your choice! NOT a wise one by any stretch of the imagination, but YOUR choice just the same! But DON’T make foolish statements about something that you have absolutely NO IDEA about!!

Saying that Catholicism is not evil is ridiculous! The garbage of Roman Catholicism is straight from the PITS OF HELL !!! You have NO IDEA whatsoever what you are talking about!"
  • I choose not to name the offender at this point.
I am not trying to start anything I just need some instruction on what to do in the face of such hate. I wish we could band together, make our voices hear and be seen as people who love Christ…and are deserving of His love.
Thank you and pax vobiscum, peace be with you all.
##** I think violence refutes itself. That sort of thing harms the speaker’s beliefs far more than it harms Catholicism. Ther is certainly a case to answer - but that won’t encourage people to admit this; they will just “c****lose ranks”. **

**If people go on & on & on about how satanic Catholicism is, & how they (usually, only they) are “true Christians” (and how do they ****know this ****? Why, they say so), they show only that their “true Christianity” is not something that any half-decent human being would want to foul himself with. There are “non-Christians” a thousand times more Christian in fact, whatever their beliefs may be, than such as that. **

**The trouble with Christianity in all (?) its forms, is that it too easily becomes a cloak, reason, or justification for the basest of our passions. By doing so, it even becomes a grave duty to exercise those same passions, so that men who would be shocked by the thought of hurting their neighbour in their cause, have no scruples whatever about hating, even slaughtering, the same neighbour in God’s case. For a lesson in holy hatred “justified” by 701 Biblical texts, go to the “God hates fags” site. 😦 😦 **

Thank you, I admitted I was wrong. What do you think about:
I agree, most attacks on any church is because of ignorance.
The Catholic Church has many beliefs that most folks do not understand. That doesn’t mean they are wrong.
We must keep in mind we are all christians, we all have the same Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus has no favorites. He loves everyone.
I love everyone who loves Jesus, our Savior. Jesus has said we must love each other.

God bless you all,
jean8

GG,
You last words are troubling. God hates sin, not the person. He tells us all to repent.
Please read Rom.1:18-32

God bless you,

Jealousy is an emtion that hurts only the person who displays it.
As a person ages there are other more important things to be concerned about. Obsessing on what an other person has is a waste of time. Pray about it. Be happy for them. God will bless you for it. 🙂

Not trying to speak for GG here, jean.

But I believe he is using that reference as an example of the problems of extremist religious behavior. I would wager he himself does not support any of those sentiments. I don’t know, but that’s how I’m interpreting his post.

God Bless.

There are several excellent books on anti-Catholic bigotry. Why not check out “The New Anti-Catholicism: The Last Acceptable Prejudice” and see if it resonates with your experience?

Take heart—Christ promised us the Church would be hated and despised as it is not of this world; their bigotry is perfect confirmation that we’re in the right place. 👍
I would like to see this in its entirety…any link you can give…thanks.

And correctly too 👍 - thanks 🙂 That particular site is…well, not “lovely or of good report”. If the “God” its author seemingly believes in does anything but hate, that could be made much clearer - as a download with the title:

  • 701 Passages Proving God’s Hate & wrath for most mankind
suggests.   **(Can he mean us ? You better believe it :)) **

Thank you all so much. Actually this rant was a reply to a note I wrote that tried to explain away some stereotypes of Catholicism. I was debating on a Baptist forum about the Lord’s Supper as to whether it was Christ’s body and blood versus metaphor. When I told them I was Catholic, they started jumping on a bunch of the Church doctrines. In reply, I wrote the “Apologetic note”. Which warranted this strong reaction.
I was not trying to convert these Baptists but was only debating on the matter of Communion aka Lord’s Supper. I think they did not like the fact that in my “Apologetic note”, I was logically fighting their accusations with Scripture. Maybe I should have accepted their attacks and not have written it. I did get in a lot of trouble and my note was deleted from the group.

Same sort of thing happened to me once. Was just trying to clear up what Catholics really believe, and then the hate came crashing down. It’s like they all suddenly went from ignorant mode into attack mode, yet the beliefs they were attacking weren’t even Catholic (Stop worshiping statues and come back to Jesus!). 🤷

e61…nice signature.
Yes, they nailed truth to a cross. Now they are trying to tear down the presence of that truth which He left behind. Might explain all the desecrations of the Eucharist that have been going in lately.

I have to agree with someone’s post that said that this “anti-Catholic” gave a lot of opinion, but not any substance.

That’s a true anti-Catholic, there. They’re easy to pick out, because they make such broad, ludicrous generalizations…and, when confronted with any opposing point of view, they get really childish and offer a bunch of things that they have been conditioned and taught to believe about Catholicism. Things that are untrue, yet things that they do NOT want corrected on, nor even listen, with sincerity, to any ‘reasonable’ comebacks or explanations on genuine Catholic teachings. They are simply not open to it.

The main indicator, is such anger. What’s with the threatening comment, “tolerate it if you wish…”. Well, what’s his alternative? Does he plan on doing something beyond just hateful words? I pray not! But that did sound threatening.

Those sorts of people need a lot of prayers and healing. There is something either wrong (mentally and spiritually with them), or something missing in their lives. I don’t want to speculate that it’s God…but anger and such blatant hatred isn’t Christ-like.

They relish in their anger. It’s not a temporary loss of patience…it’s a life-long dependency and desire to hang on to that hatred. It’s actually very irrational. They think the focus is on Catholicism, but half the time, I just think that they are unhappy people who find an outlet in the big, bad, Catholic Church.

I have had the experience of a very anti-Catholic brother-in-law (an Evangelical, Charismatic head pastor for a church not too far from where I live).

An example of his supposed “love” of his neighbor: knowing that my brother is an ordained, Eastern (Byzantine rite) Catholic priest…he used the most venemous words to express what he thinks of ALL priests --ahem, knowing full-well that he was writing to the sister of a priest-- that I will forever be hurt. It was so hateful…and so personal. I was so angry, and so upset at the same time. I couldn’t believe that he would stoop so low. And just knowing my dear, sweet brother (who has always been such a spiritual, kind, loving, humble, extremely intelligent, obedient and faithful soul)…He is one of my role models…an example of true perseverence, through adversity (he’s always trusted in God). I really wanted to go and punch my brother-in-law’s teeth in.

Luckily, I don’t harbor such hatred, and I basically just pray for him. When we’ve seen each other since, it’s been cordial enough. I even hugged him, a couple Christmas’s ago (at a family gathering) because, I believe, it was the Holy Spirit’s action within me…I had such a profound sense of joy and sadness for him, at the same time. I wanted to let him know that I didn’t hate him (and I don’t). But I won’t forget his words, nor their sting.

I just feel very sad for him.

But that’s not all he’s said or written to me (in the past he has called up my ‘personal’ salvation (lack thereof)…and that the Church is a cult. He doesn’t refrain from any of the anti-Catholic slang. It’s something that he wouldn’t admit to needing…but he really needs to repent, for his own sake.

I don’t judge how God will deal with anti-Catholics…but I think they need our prayers and any help we can offer.

It’s so wonderful to read the stories of the converts, especially those lost in that hatred…the anti-Catholics. That’s a hard one…and completely up to the Holy Spirit. They are not open to listening or hearing Christ, from a Catholic’s mouth. They do not see the face of Christ in any professed and faithful Catholic. There is a covering over their eyes, which blinds them, and a ‘love’ that is limited and conditional (according to their own idea of salvation and interpretation of Scripture).

I couldn’t be more happy about all the very on-fire Evangelical (and other Protestant, non-Christian) converts to the Church, in recent times. It’s a sign of God’s reinforcing the Church against the gates of hell, and reminding us that we’re one (and they will know us by our love).

Thank you byzgirl, I was a convert from an Evangelical denomination!
I was lukewarm though and had to spiritually mature before the option of Catholicism came to me. Moreover, I have had good training because of my “sola scriptura” background. 😃

I sort of wanted to look at things from a different angle on this thread.
Before I returned the church, I didn’t really have a whole lot of knowledge about Christian history.
I would hear all the anti-Catholic stuff and, at first, I didn’t think much of it. But, the more outlandish it got, the more I did think about it. At the very least, if all this crazy antichrist/whore of babylon/Mary worshiping stuff made me worry about my family!
So I guess what I’m trying to say is, it’s all that negative hateful stuff that actually got me researching Catholicism!
At first I was like, “Yeah, I knew it. All that stuff is kinda silly.”
Then it was, “Man, these Catholics actually have a lot of good stuff to say!”
And finally, “Mom and dad were right all along! I wanna be Catholic again!”
The more outlandish the claim, the more curious I got.
I guess what I’m trying to say is “Thanks for pointing me home, antiCatholics!”
Now if only they would research their own claims a little more thoroughly…😃

Our Father in Heaven is the Greatest at bringing about good in the face of evil(s). You would think it’s frustrating for those who continue perpetrating evil with some temporary “success” at it, only to have a greater good brought about in the face of this evil.

A friend of mine told me that he went from unbelieving to become Christian (although, not Catholic yet), after watching the absurdities of the “Life of Brian” by Monty Python. He wanted to investigate what they were ridiculing.
