Have Christians read the book WHERE DID WE GET THE BIBLE

I’m a Christian and I have a copy and have read it.

Your title is messed up as it infers that Catholics are not Christians which is definitely dead wrong.

My title is messed up PLEASE read it again have CHRISTIANS read and you say its messed up,you may need glasses

Bill yes and it’s interesting you post this quote from Augustine. I’ve been a student of church history for the past several years. Over the last few weeks I’ve been re-studying the first 500 years. Augustine who converted from Manichaeism did so after reading scripture but stated he only believed the scripture because the church declared them to be true.

Hi Bill. I understood the thread title 😉 Some folks are very sencitive so I understood the responce you just got (note to self, learn to spell). I have not read the book, but I can easily imagin what is in it. Good reading I am sure. I always say that Real, True Bible Belivers are or become Catholics 👍

I beg to differ. You posted this in NCR where it will to some degree bait n-Cs.

Why didn’t you simply title it objectively and ask something like “Have you read the book WHERE DID WE GET THE BIBLE?”

I don’t need glasses…but I suggest that you might need some adjustment to your posting style because this is not your first such thread title.

If you wouldn’t appreciate such a ploy used on you then why do it to others? It seems unfortunately inflammatory, which means it will serve little good purpose when it could have spawned the discussion of a very good book.

The object around here is discussion and/or debate not baiting and offense.

Father Henry Graham. It’s a series of articles that he wrote for Scottish newspapers to refute some a-C polemics. It’s quite good, full of facts, relatively short, and easily affordable and worth both the reading and the addition to your personal library.

Read it. Great book.

I believe you can read the book on-line but since I own a hard copy of it I don’t have much use for the on-line version and so I do not have the link.

I read the book at one time and the tone of the book gives the impression that Graham hates Protestants
There are better books on the subject than this one

Other then saying that the early Church was not Catholic/Orthodox…

Believe me he loves protestants for protestants to say that is a lot of hogwash he talks the truith and protestants don,t like to hear the truth because it makes them look bad. my two daughter are protestant and they hate the book but love the trail of blood.

There are better books on the subject than this oneI disagree completely.

Fr. Graham simply factually takes the allegations of his n-C/a-C opponents and exposes them for the errors that they are. He does so with no polemics or vitriol, but with the honesty that one expects from someone involved in a debate.

You might try objectively reading it again. This time focus on the facts. If they are accurate then you have cause to question what you currently hold as true.

IMHO it could do with being brought up to date; it was written in 1911, which is a very long time ago in some ways.​

Did not Jesus Christ leave his Church to guide us? Truth is Agustine believed that Jesus Christ did leave his church to guide us, therefore he believed through the Grace of God.

Don’t let your studies on Agustine go to waste, believe has he believed:thumbsup:
