Have I committed a sin?

Hello all I am kinda stressing out, I was talking to some people on the Internet and I got a link from them I heard about the video being funny and that is what these people sent to me so I clicked it. It was a youtube link so I thought nothing more of it, I clicked it and it showed a cartoon version of Harry Potter but to cut it short when someone said a spell a cartoon girl was being pulled towards a guy and they had the weird censored kinda pixel thing around her buttocks I thought this weird and after a second or so the scene changed, I thought it might have ended whatever that was then something similar happened with the pixel bar thing, when this appeared I saw about 2 seconds or so of the new scene paused the video and then closed the window.
As it was a youtube video and it was kind of parodying Harry Potter and more for comedy purposes than arousal (I’m guessing there was skits of something afterwards) I thought it would not count as pornography but now I am questioning it.
I mean I didn’t really know that, that is what I was going to see when I clicked that link but I am just worried in case I have committed Lust by watching something that may be considered pornography, I am really confused I didn’t think it counted as Pornography but now I am worrying over it and I am stressing out about it.
Could any body please tell me what they think have I committed a sin or not?
I haven’t revisited the video and I don’t plan too, but I don’t know I just feel like I may have done something wrong.
Any answers would be appreciated and clear my head

A priest is the best person to counsel you in these matters. He would set your mind at ease.

That said, it doesn’t sound to me like you sinned. You thought the video was something else and when something popped up unexpectedly, you closed out of it. It sounds like you reacted very sensibly.

Hopefully, you have learned a valuable lesson about clicking on things unknowingly.
 
A sin requires full awareness and cooperation: knowing something is “wrong” (being of sound mind and understanding what one is doing) and then doing it anyway.

I think scrupulosity is a problem for some. We should not fear. God incarnated as one of us, that is how loving He is. And then He subjected Himself to horrors on our account. So yes, talk to a priest, that will surely help you and the sacrament of reconciliation is a wonderful thing. But God knows your heart. And I would avoid those “internet friends” from now on.
 
Hi and welcome to the forum. This would best be discerned in the confessional. We are here guide and help but we cannot judge the condition of your soul. I know that you would like to hear that you did not commit a sin but no one here can know for sure. There are too many variables when it comes to sexual sin. Usually if you are uncertain whether or not you committed a sin then your full consent may not have been present but we cannot know that here. So, go to confession and tell the priest exactly what you said here and then be at peace. God bless you…teachccd 🙂
 
Ok I am going to make this quick, I am 16 and I am scrupulous and basically I have a quick question.
So we was in a free lesson to do with what we wanted and to revise, I got my book out and opened it, but started talking but my friend start flicking the book cover up and such, I got caught up talking but the flicking of the book cover was irritating,
So I got the book at tapped him in the face with it only lightly as a kinda joke thing to make him stop we laughed about it, and after a while I was like sorry for tapping you in the face, and he said no worries your forgiven.
We are good friends and things but now I’m stressing over whether I committed a sin by tapping him in the face, I do not think I caused any pain to him, and I certainly did not do it to cause him pain.
So have I committed a sin even though I said sorry and he forgave me?

I am just kinda stressing out and as I am scrupulous and I did the act out of more of a joke than to cause him harm, and I’m not sure whether me doing this little kinda joke with my friend but by tapping him if I have committed a sin?
I know it probably sounds stupid but I am kind of stressing out over this, any one tell me whether it is a sin even though I didn’t do it to hurt him.

If you are scrupulous you need to approach your pastor about receiving spiritual direction and then discuss your scrupulosity with him. Not everything that one does is sinful, and a spiritual director can help you to figure these things out for yourself. Coming to an internet forum asking if you’ve committed a sin by doing a specific innocuous action is not going to be helpful to you.
 
Please talk to your priest about your struggle with scrupulosity. He will help you work through it. This is not an issue that can be adequatley addressed over an internet forum.

To answer your question: No, joking around with your friend is not a sin.

Thank you for your answer, I have anxiety and I’m kinda stressing about everything, I was just thinking although I know it was a joke and my friend knew it was a joke and him forgiving me I just just stressing that because I tapped him physically I was stressing that it was a sin.
But I suppose your right I suppose as we were just joking around me tapping him on the head isn’t a sin, would I be right in saying it would be a sin if I were to hit him hard in the head for the purpose of causing him pain, I’m guessing if you do anything to cause pain, emotional or physical on purpose it is a sin.
If you would reply that would be great 👍

Yes, if you got angry and slugged him in the face in order to hurt him, that would probably be a sin. 😛 What you did isn’t even in the same category.

Again, I would recommend consulting a priest. Scrupulosity can be a very emotionally/mentally/spiritually draining condition to suffer from. Receiving guidance from a trained pastor is the key to effectively dealing with it.
 
bring it up in confession the priest will tell you if you are being to scrupulous about your life. Trust the priest not the forums.

Yet again thank you for answering me, I will hopefully talk to my priest this weekend (If I don’t forget, I have a tendency of doing that lol), but thank you for answering if you have really put my mind at ease.

Ok this may sound extremely stupid but I was watching a horror/comedy film on TV, was watching it fine and then a sex scene came on in which I averted my eyes and waiting for the scene to pass by.
I could hear some screaming (Not Sexual) in which it sounded quite strange to me what the man was saying in which I gave a quick glance out of curiosity too see why he was screaming in which I saw a creature like thing biting his private parts(Presumably from the women he was having intercourse with) , I looked away straight afterwards feeling not only disgusted but also worried that if I had sinned by glancing at the TV, I saw no sexual things or anything like that just the area around that creatures head.

I know this sounds extremely stupid asking this but I’m worried I mean as far as I’m aware it wasn’t pornography or lustful, but its the fact that you saw a very small part of frontal nudity that I am worried about.
Please I know it sounds extremely stupid me asking this and foolish but I am worrying about this, and before anyone asks I am rather scrupulous and I am going to talk to my priest about my scrupulosity at the weekend.
I know this question may seem like a troll question but I am genuinely worrying about this, any answers would be greatly appreciated.
 
It wasn’t a sin. There was neither the intent or the action afterwards.
 
I don’t think this is scrupulous at all. You were genuinely assaulted by this video with an image you didn’t expect, and you are questioning your ulterior motives in glancing back out of curiosity.

You are on the right road; just talk about it with your confessor. I don’t think you sinned mortally, however, considering the circumstances, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

However, I would consider getting a better idea of whether a sex scene is in a film or not by finding reliable screening websites to do so, so as to avoid getting into this difficult situation again.

Thanks for the quick reply, I kinda knew that something would be attacking his privates from earlier in the film and hearing people talk about it but, there wasn’t any sexual scenes I saw only a small part of frontal nudity.
So is it still not a sin even though I kinda knew something like that was coming up?
I mean the whole scene in the film I guess was for comedy or a kinda shock effect of the film but, I don’t know I’m still kinda worrying about it still. And what do you mean by the action afterwards?

In the eyes of the world, it does sound stupid 🙂 The world would say: “Why not simply enjoy the sex scene?” Well, in fact Christ chose the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and chose to reveal them to little ones and hide them from the learned 🙂 It is good that you are concerned about these things to some degree, for “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much” 😉 However if you worry that this is a matter of scruples, it is very prudent to discuss it with your confessor 👍

Remember this: the saints (those holy men who by God’s grace were not exposed to the filth we are exposed to all around us) were tempted by Satan with horrible visions, including some concerning lust. They were tempted and could not even avoid it (unlike us…we can close our eyes or turn off the tv…) but they rejected the temptation and felt a profound disgust in their soul seeing how the devil takes something so sacred and beautiful and desecrates it and deprives the man and the woman of their dignity in such a terrible way…thus, even when exposed to the temptation, they did not sin.

Since we are as similar to them as an atom is similar to Mount Everest, in our case we should run away from temptation. But if we find ourselves amidst them, as long as we chose heaven and reject the works and pomps of Satan we do not sin.

I mean about the sex scene I know your right about it, but in all honesty it’s quite hard to find a film now that doesn’t include sexual scenes.
With the whole image of the creature attack I kinda knew something like that was coming up by seeing earlier in the film and the trailer of the film, is it still not a sin even though I kinda knew that was what was happening either way I am going to talk to this about my confessor along with my scrupulosity.
But I suppose I kinda just need clarity of mind.

A piece of art just showing genitalia is not in itself sinful. Also, simply seeing that in a film is not sinful by itself. Unless the film was pornographic (sounds like it wasn’t), then you didn’t commit any sin here. You weren’t watching the film for any sexual reasons and the scene you’re describing sound more like some kind of comedy or action piece. There was no sin here, nudity alone is not sinful in all circumstances.

As for “the action afterwards”, I just meant that you did nothing with the scene. You didn’t dwell on it, you didn’t have any sinful thoughts about it as far as I can tell. There is nothing wrong with you worrying that something was sinful, and you are doing something good by scheduling an appointment to discuss scrupulosity with your director. But in this particular case, I don’t see any sin.
