So on Saturday I went to confession and had A LOT to get off my chest, I always have everything written down to help me. But upon seeing two of the things on my list which were more severe I decided to save them for the end (I get very nervous in confession so I prefer to discuss the lighter sins first then the mortal sins as a means to relax myself) however after Confession I realized I forgot to go back to them and confess them.

I’m fully planning on bringing them up in my next confession but do I need to re-confess what I said on Saturday? Was my absolution not valid?

I realized I forgot to go back to them and confess them.

Was my absolution not valid?
Your absolution was valid. Forgetting to say something doesn’t invalidate the sacrament. Mention the thing you forgot the next time you’re in confession.

Your confession was valid. Just mention them next time.

Since you did not deliberately conceal them it was valid.

Legitimate forgetfulness does not invalidate, only deliberate concealment… Which I never understood. If you are gonna conceal sins, why even go to Confession? Because if you conceal them, none of them are forgiven plus you commit the sin of sacrilege… So it makes everything worse.

But in your case, just bring them up and confess them at your next confession.

I understand it might be uncomfortable but I’d work on saying your worst sins first. Ultimately confession is about being completely open and humbling ourselves. It is humble to first say your worst sins.

Buck your post is indicative of a tendency to religious scrupulosity.
Talking to your priest about that would be more important I suggest.
Good luck.

I’m not sure there is much here for you to “diagnose” the tendency to scrupulosity. Are you the scruples police? 🤣

You see my comments as somehow insulting rather than assisting based on pastoral experience in the area?

I don’t think it helps anyone to have a random stranger tell them that they gave a tendency to scrupulosity. 🤷

Lets get the quote correct.
I said the post was indicative of scrupulosity and it would be a good idea to discuss that possibility with a professional.

Perfectly sound advice and in accord with CAF policy.
You are free to disagree over trivialities.
