Have i done wrong here

i was watching the simpsons and they showed a staue of a man with women on each side of him showing a clivege. I was aware of such things and was making sure my eyes was looking at the faces and not below. when i felt the temptation was getting hard I turned away from the TV. my problem is when i looked at the TV again for a moment my eyes went right to one of the clivege and i turned away again.

when i turned away the first time I did have temptation to look. if it wasn’t temptation then it was worryies which i placed upon myself not to look…
Have i commited a grave mortal sin here,

it’s a cartoon? I’d say no sin was even committed if you look at life by every obscure detail then I can’t imagine that it would be a happy one. You can live a clean and Christ like life by not having to second guess yourself all the time. God Bless!

I endorse everything after “It’s a cartoon” 100%; however, I must respectfully assert that assuming a cartoon can’t be as bad as a photo, if not worse, is 100% false.

I was replying to the OP in the confines of the post he made. He never mentioned that he had any lustful thoughts in regards to the cartoon he was looking at. I wasn’t writing about cartoons in general, I was simply helping this poster. God Bless!

Nope, there is no mortal sin. Don’t get too scrupulous, you would need to completely indulge in it for a while for it to fall into the category of mortal sin. A priest I was confessing to one time gave me a 60 second rule as a guideline. Even if you lusted at it for a little while but then broke away, I’d still say no mortal sin.

You tried to keep your eyes away, then looked away, looked back and looked away again. I would say that you never at any point gave into temptation to lust, just experienced it. You would know better than anyone, but I would say you didn’t commit ANY sin.
 
Good question!

From what you have written, it doesn’t sound like you have committed any serious sin. I’d suggest you consider one thing. In the act of contrition we say that we, “with the help of [God’s] grace” to “avoid the near occasion of sin”.

The Simpson’s are not a model family. If you think that the Simpson’s could could lead you into sin then you should cut the show out of your life. You may want to ask yourself the question “How is this show going to help me get to heaven?” Could you take this time to read the bible or pray?
