Have I sabotaged my 54 Day Novena?

Hi everyone,
Today would be day 23 of a 54 Day Novena that I’m praying for the conversions of four Atheist friends of mine. However, I gave into temptation to read impure media and then I also gave into the temptation of masturbating, which I haven’t done since May. I am worried because I haven’t prayed my Rosary today, and there are no Thursday Confessions in my area. Of course I will get to Confession as soon as I can, but I am worried that my Rosary for today won’t count as I am estranged from God due to mortal sin. Is there a chance I will have to start my Novena over?
 
It’s not a magic formula of some kind. We can still pray if we’ve fallen into serious sin, and in fact we should. Just pray your rosary and don’t worry about it.

No. Keep praying and persevere all the way to the end of the novena, no matter how many mistakes you make. You might find yourself more distracted or tempted than normal, which is par for the course. Just ignore them as best you can and settle back into prayer.
 
Since when did the Lord, all the angels and saints become book keepers and keep a running tab on prayers? A novena is a personal devotion. Pick up where you left off. It is. the other problem I would be concerned about. Pray that you overcome it and I will pray for you, too. I will add that the Rosary and novenas are private prayers and devotions. The Lord will not come down and ‘smite’ you, but it is most advantageous to finish what you start. The Lord hears ALL prayers, good, bad or even selfish.
 
If you’re this concerned about praying your Rosary and saying your Novena, you’re hardly “estranged from God”. If you were truly “estranged from God” you wouldn’t even be thinking about any of this.

You messed up and made a mistake. Just tell God you’re sorry, don’t do it again, and go to Confession at your earliest opportunity. You can continue with your Novena right now, you don’t have to wait to go to Confession. I don’t see anything on record that sinners (and we are ALL sinners) can’t pray rosaries and Novenas, in fact they’re encouraged to do so.
