More so my question is have I committed a mortal sin? See here is my situation. Now I know to utter God’s name uselessly such as for example to say “OMG” or “God Forbid” would be saying God’s name in vain, and there for mortally sinful if the person had sufficient knowledge of what they were actually saying and so on and so forth. However today I was trying to avoid using the Lords name in vain and instead said “Heaven forbid”, I was a little unsure when saying the phrase to if I had crossed some line…after all God is in Heaven, and Heaven is a holy place. Could someone help me out with this situation? is what I said sinful? Please let me know. Thank you and have a wonderful day! God bless you!

Since your action did not in any way meet all three requirements for a mortal sin (or for that matter, any one of the three at all), there is no way it could have been one.

Alrighty, yep just sometimes I can be a bit scrupulous. Honestly this wouldn’t usually bother me too much know just that I could go to confession on Saturday. However I help out at CCD on Wednesday’s and we are going to 40 Hours this week. So since we are going to mass this Wednesday I want to be able to receive.

Relax, take a deep breath, and know that Jesus loves you just the way you are.🙂
