Have there been any lay Catholics who were considered by the Church or community to have been mystics?

Has any lay Catholic written or evangelized such that their experiences would count them among the mystics–Say Raissa Maritain for instance–or does the Church generally take a clergy-only approach?
 
Yes.

I’m not sure if their is a standard definition of mystic but I believe these are some of the criteria:
  1. holy and exemplary life
  2. performed or experienced a miracle from god
In my experience many people have experienced miracles. Few could say they performed a miracle but that is possible but not always visible.

Lastly the more holy the person generally the more they keep their experiences to themselves.

Once most also be careful because many have experienced false miracles and been deceived.
