Hello.

I usually go to Adoration at a set time, have for a few years now, and today I just got a job - after a 12 year absence from the work force, and my husband told me to cancel my Adoration time for tonight because if I don’t we won’t be able to buy a car tomorrow because I’ll be too sleepy from being at Adoration.

I feel like I’ve betrayed God and made everything difficult for others who will have to fill my time slot.

I’m also scared I won’t go back to Adoration, and I need to go there. When I don’t go to Adoration things don’t work right in my life.

This all bothers me

Just informed the people who come before me and after me about my absence from Adoration…

Any constructive thoughts about how I can handle this sort of thing in the future?

I’ve been going to perpetual adoration for several years. We have assigned times and prayer partners for each hour. I switched my day and time a few years ago and everything worked out. Find a time that works for you, but don’t stop going. It’s an hour of my week like no other.

Perhaps you can find a different time slot that works for you, and someone else may be willing to trade or switch. Not everyone has a schedule to their days, such as a job, or children to take care of. Someone may be happy to step into your slot. I don’t know if there is a sign up, or a contact person, but that is where you need to start.

Congratulations again on the job! Thanks be to God!

Go to the Chapel when time permits, right away. Doubling up your chapel time when you make a large lifestyle change will prevent you from getting away from your regular attendance. In two to four weeks, you will be back into a routine. It will also make your transition into the working world much smoother.

When your old adoration hour comes upon you at work, stop what you are doing a spend 5 minutes giving thanks. (Or whatever time you can spare.) Remembering where you have been is helpful in getting you to where you need to be.

Congratulations on the new job. Having to change your adoration time may soon be a blessing in disguise.👍👍👍

You have not betrayed God or anyone else; work for a month or two and then decide what time during your new day would be best for you start Adoration again. Don’t worry, the Holy Spirit will call you back!
