Have we entered the Great Tribulation?

I know how you feel, yet at the same time it is quite a blessing for God to choose to have us here if the antichrist is to come on the scene during our lives…it means God wants us to help save souls.
Ah yes you are right:thumbsup: It would be a blessing. I just dont know what it is like to be persecuted for my faith in Christ. That persecution is going to be vast. I suppose I could go to the middle east as a missionary. Although you would probably never hear from me again.

I kind of thought so.

The only reason I asked was to illuminate the point that such an alarmingly large number such as a 90% apostacy isn’t helpful as a basis of discussion. For one thing, it’s impossible to quantify or qualify.

The danger in depending on such a unqualified high number is that it immediately causes this to be an emotional issue rather than a rational one. Emotions, however, are probably the worst basis for discussion ever.

This is made doubly inaccurate in that many people aren’t even sure what apostacy is (as evidenced by remarks on this thread). So not only are people panicking over an overwhelming large number of apostates, they don’t even know what it is or how to recognize it!

The most one could possibly say is that, in their opinion many, if not most Christians have apostasized. Even if this is arguable, at least it’s not irresponsible.

Perhaps I value rational discussion over emotionalism too much. Sorry, but that’s just me.
Got your point. In my opinion 90%+… 🙂

I don’t think you will have to go seek it once it is here in a big way.

I think, like St. Peter instructed, that we need to live our life as though each day will be the day we stand before Jesus Christ for our Particular Judgement.

Yes indeed. Our first Pope sure was wise. 🙂

Just to emphasize my points in this thread, consider the following article:

France ‘no longer a Catholic country’
By Henry Samuel in Paris

Barely half the French population describe themselves as Catholic, according to a poll released yesterday, sparking a leading religious publication to declare France “no longer a Catholic country”.

A poll published in Le Monde des Religions yesterday showed the number of self-declared French Catholics had dropped from 80 per cent in the early 1990s and 67 per cent in 2000 and to 51 per cent today…

…Yesterday’s poll showed that only 10 per cent go to church regularly — mainly to Sunday mass or christenings. Of the 51 per cent who still call themselves Catholics, only half said they believed in God. Many said they were Catholics because it was a family tradition.

It is quite sad because France has long been known to be one of the most Catholic nations and people in the world.

Yes, I take courage that Christ has won the victory. However, there is a GReat Tribulation that the Church teaches the Church must go through and it precludes the second coming of Christ.
I know, We are in it.

Very true, except at least 90% of Christendom is in apostasy right now, not sure that ever happened before.
Are you sure you mean apostasy?
What reliable source do you get the 90% figure from?

CCC 2089 Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. “Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.”

675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.

In my opinion we have entered that period.

What “problems”, might “men” be facing today that this addresses?

In the context of 675 it doesn’t appear that this is refering to the lack of Faith in our culture but some “problem” men appear to believe they posses.

You ignored: *Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. * That is the point in which we live, the antichrist has not yet arrived.

Hey Tom,

I have a verse a day on my internet page and this one was fitting to share with you regarding this thread.👍

Matthew 24: 12-14

24:12
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
24:13
but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Something like 250,000 people die every day, so I’d say we are always in the end times, as the personal judgement is just around the corner for a large number of us.

That said, I really do think “a” Great Tribulation is close at hand. Don’t know if it’s “The” Great Tribulaitn that will lead to the end of times but it’s sure starting to look that way to me.

For all practical purposes, the gospel has been preached to the ends of the earth.

Despite this, I think there is evil and immorality in this world on an unprecedented scale.

Choices have been made, battle lines are being drawn.

Private revelations of an apocalytic nature seem to be at an all time high.

There seems to be an new evangalization as the Holy Spirit moves to prepare a remnant of the Church for something.

Heck there’s even a “Armagedon” type meteor set to pass dangerously close to the earth in 2033 with a slight possiblity of getting thrown into the Earths orbit with for a direct colision course 7 years later.

Natural disasters seem to be occuring at an unprecedented rate.

Disease and starvation are running rampant.

It might not be the end, but Somebody’s sure trying to get our attention.

Chuck

Part of the tribulation is an apostasy from the faith, we see that in huge numbers today. Do you think we have entered the Great Tribulation? If yes, why? If not, why not?
Tom317…if you are speaking of the great tribulation spoken of in scripture, that has already been fulfilled, although of course there will always be trials and tribulations and even an eventual anti-christ.

For a thorough analysis of the ‘tribulations’ verses in scripture may I suggest the recent (2003)phenomenal study by David Currie. Entitled
Rapture: The End-Times Error That Leaves the Bible Behind
