Have we the right to complain

When we pray for something and we get it and it isn’t what we want or we have changed our minds have we got the right to complain to God?

God wants to hear what bothers us. I think it is all a matter of trusting that God knows what is best for us. This is not an easy thing to do, but comes with much prayer and communication with God over period of time.

I have just read this part of St. Faustina’s diary tonight and thought it might help us think more when we complain about what God has given us:

1537.
In return for My blessings, I get ingratitude. In return for My love, I get forgetfulness and indifference. My Heart cannot bear this.

In my understanding, the correct attitude might be “Thy Will Be Done”. If you can just remember that The Divine Will for you and for each of us is perfect. Not that it is easy to accept at times. I have learned to pray more to the tune of “Lord, you know what is the best outcome in this…”

Also reminds me of a saying: “Be careful what you pray for, you might just get it!” I have screwed up enough in my lifetime asking and getting what I “thought” I needed. I leave a lot more details up to The Lord nowdays.

I don’t think that I complain when I get what I want but think of the returne and thank God for His giving. Lately Ihave been given without even asking and from just something I have done.

Like one morning I sang a song that came to my mind about the song thrush and son giving praise to God etc and two weeks latter at my wedding the song thrush was there on a high barge board behind my wife and I and when we exchanged vowls the bird went over to the tabanacle. I lately have had others like that.

So,… you GET what you prayed for…

…then you “complain” about getting it…?

Perhaps “complaining” is not the right verb for that situation?

Perhaps you might ask God why getting what you wanted was not “satisfying” to you?

My guess is that you got what you WANTED, which was not what you NEEDED, and though you honestly thought that getting what you WANTED was what you NEEDED, it wasn’t,…

…and your “discovery” that you actually needed something other than what you wanted was “uncomfortable”, and was some part of what God was telling you, which was the REAL answer to your initial prayer.

In other words,… God ALWAYS answers every prayer in the wisest possible way, and sometimes showing you what happens when you get what you want, as opposed to what you need, is not what is best for you.

The quote above was quoted by Faustina saying what Jesus told her. Few paragraphs before the one I posted was about another Sister who prayed for certain grace, and when she received it, she didn’t want it. I just don’t know what she was receiving though.

I wonder if what was happening was that God gave her the graces blessings but when she gained them, God allowed them to repelled against her humanness so that she could feel the inability of humans in our sinfulness to have such a blessing given to us. That in itself is a blessing.
I have cried in anguish when having been given these blessings knowing in some small way the ingratitudes I have towards God’s blessings. I feel my ingratitude against the blessing. Such as the blessing for no reason other than God giving when I wrote a poem about giving myself to God one part was “I give you my eye’s that I might see Your loving face”. For a month Jesus allowed me to see His face each time I knelt to pray. I asked Jesus why He was allowing this and He told me to go back to the poem I wrote.
Icouldn’t believe he would do this for (to) me.
How do we compare that to human tought feeling love ,
we can’t, and tears flow again at the thought.

God bless you, too. It is a blessing to experience His presence the way you do.

An example that I could think of when we have something and then complain about it is:

• we pray to be a peace maker, and God take you to where people will give you hard time.
• we pray to be patient and the next thing you know you are going through different tests and trials.
• we pray to be humble, and God wants you to listen to your superior and sometimes what you are asked of by your superior is against your will.

Things such as examples above are considered to be blessings from God, but as human nature, sometimes we don’t see that and we complain why God gave us those things.
