I believe if you pray that you marry a good spouse and you are a good person, God will find you a good spouse.
I guess that means I’m not a good person. 😦 😦

Oh dear - that is just not true!!! :nope: I don’t know him (I’m only guessing that it is a him and not a her), but I’m sure that is not what profitdaniel was trying to say. Please don’t say that you must not be a good person. Your future spouse is out there somewhere praying to find you, so don’t feel like because you haven’t found each other it means you must not be a good person. That’s just not how God is.

:blessyou:

Sisterhood is beautiful! Yay!

Oh yes, I prayed for years and years.

It turned out he was also praying for years and years.

We will celebrate our 16th anniversay tomorrow!

Have any of you ever asked God to choose your spouse for you? If so, what were the circumstances and how did you know that he or she was the right one?
Yes. I prayed every day for my future spouse for 10 years before i met him, started at 16. when i was in my 20’s i made a list of all the traits i knew i needed in a husband and told God I’d know he was the right one when i met someone that had the whole list (itstarted with 10 things, but i would continually revise it and ended up with 27.) on our first date we talked for hours and in my head i checked off every single one. i knew then we were going to get married.🙂
I am already married but I have been praying for my children’s future spouses since birth.
i do this too. well i pray for his future spouse if he has one and vocation to hold orders if he has one.

no it just means that either you or he is not ready yet

i used to complain to my parents, “Where is he. I’m ready now.”

when i met him and found out he was 6 years older than I, i realized he was waiting much longer for me to be ready, LOL

I hope I get ready soon, then, because I’m sort of old. 😃

Dear Lord, please hurry, before I’m too old and infirm to walk down the aisle. 😃

Hi,

Sharon
I pray for my future spouse daily. I have to remember however, that my future spouse may be a woman or the Church, depending on my vocation.

I know what the desires of my heart are, but I am still searching for the will of God!

Praise Him!

Hi sharon,
I give God all the credit for finding my husband. I use to say prayers to God asking Him to send me someone who went to church had a job and a car. That is all I ask him for and maybe because he needed to go to church more than anything else He honored it all. But I knew my husband for about 5 years before we dated and than all of the sudden I thought maybe we can go out. The rest is history. There is no doubt in my mind that he isn’t a Godsend.

God Bless
Kathleen

Yes. In fact, I made a list, kept it in my Bible for a week, then took it out and did some editting. 😃 And God delivered!

I pray the St. Joseph’s “A Boy Sweetheart’s Daily Prayer”, every morning.
A Boy Sweetheart’s Daily Prayer
O St. Joseph, Model of justice, and therefore of husbands,
I beseech Thee to direct me in my choice of a future wife. Grant me especially wisdom and deliberation in this choice. Make both my friendship and courtship especially chaste, unselfish, prudent, thrifty, and cheerful. Be my companion in single as well as in wedded life. Amen.

I began, about a month ago, praying for my future spouse. It was partly in response to seeing how many of you here have done it, so thanks for the good examples! I am trying to offer specific prayers each night for her, that she may be holy and pure (and I too), and that God will bring us together when He chooses.

I have a slightly different twist on this subject. Years ago when my kids were still single, I was listening to Dr. James Dobson on the radio. On this particular show, he said that even though we don’t know who our children’s future spouses might be, God knows, and there is no reason we can’t pray for their future spouses. This seemed like a good idea to me, so I started praying for all of the young men and women who might have a chance to end up as a spouse to one of my children. I didn’t really expect the prayer to work.

All of a sudden out of the blue my daughter, who hardly every dated had a serious boyfriend. He just happened to be Catholic, they got married in the Church, and now 14 years later, they are still married!
