Dear Jellyfish,
First, did you read the new thread I began today, Memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows? If not see HERE. Since you asked Me to explain how to go to Jesus through Mary, I started this new thread today, Sept. 15, in order to help you and others learn from St. Louis de Montfort, as he wrote about it in his book on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin.” I hope you will read it and you can ask more questions on that thread. I’ll post something each day, God willing, from St. Louis in the hope, God will help you and all of us with you, to grow closer to Jesus through Mary

In answer to your questions here on this thread:
- It seems to me, a sacrifice is basically an act of “giving” to others rather than always thinking of ourselves. It is a loving act of sharing something we have that we know may help another. We can make very “little sacrifices” but with “Great Love”. St. Therese of Lisieux was one who did that, by simply offering everything she did for love of Jesus.
- Yes, our sacrifices are worth a lot; they mean a great deal to both Jesus and Mary for our suffering can be offered in Love for God with our whole heart and soul and mind and strength and also offered for the love of others and in overcoming our “disordered” love of self. We need to be willing as Jesus and Mary were willing on this earth to give ourselves willingly to help others in our love for God and for others. We simply can offer ourselves in union with them in all we do.
- Finally, there are not “a lot” of of passages in Scripture about Mary, but God is the Primary Author of Scripture and His Word does tell us what we need to know if we prayerfully listen and “ponder all we hear from Him” in our hearts as Mary did. Mary felt tremendous pain in seeing Jesus suffer so much but she was strengthened by God’s Grace to endure that pain in love for Him. When we truly love someone, as God loves us, we care more about them than we care about ourselves. Hope that helps.
