Have you completed the Nine First Fridays?

I would like to know anybody that has completed them if they had problems in life during the time and peace afterwards?

The night before I made my 7th my wife suddenly went into a very bad mood, the house became very depressing but after making it the following day to church things settled down. I assumed that it may happen again the next time, the evening before my 8th my wife again went into a very bad mood for no apparent reason, I made my 8th.

I am now awaiting my 9th First Friday on 1st January. This December has been horrible in my household. I know Satan wants me to miss my 9th Friday and hope that if I make it there will be some peace in my home.

I have heard of people having problems whilst going through RCIA which seemed to cease when they became Catholic.

I had made my First Saturdays a coule of years ago.

Congratulations on making/doing the First Saturdays!

Doing the Nine First Fridays . . . was very difficult for me! :mad: Every single time I got to the 7th or 8th something happened. I made it to the 8th and was excited for the 9th. It was either a storm, I got sick . . . just always something!:crying: Being persistent ;):whistle: was a huge help. I was ultimately successful when I decided to make them by going to Mass every single day for a year!! Yes! :curtsey:There was much peace at home afterward, but I was a student then.😉

Everyone told me it would be difficult because of the evil one. They were correct. Just be strong and . . . remember that once in a life-time is all that is needed. Well, at least when I did them.😉

I do not know if Christmas time is as stressful in England as in the USA. If so, the time you are ending your First Nine Fridays could be a bit more stressful with all the gift-giving, etc., etc.

I will keep you in prayer so that you will be able to finish the First Nine Fridays on January 1st. Be prepared for “the negative thing” to start on New Year’s Eve!

I have, just by default, as I go to daily Mass whenever possible.

I did the Nine 1st Fridays in 1963, when I was in 4th grade! I give credit to that grace for keeping me Catholic and out of serious trouble all these years. Praise to Our Lord Jesus Christ. :amen:

I keep trying, but in my parish if there is a funeral scheduled, there is no morning mass. I can’t ever go to the funeral mass as I’m at work, so I don’t know if I’ll ever complete the 9 in a row!

Like GEddie, I have done the First Fridays by default and do so continuously, as I attend Mass every day. The problems I have continue to exist, but daily Mass attendance does provide me with a measure of peace despite them. Praying for you and your family, Nelka. God bless :signofcross:

I’ve completed the 9 First Fridays many times in my life, by God’s Grace, starting from my youth in Catholic School. At present, I’m not always able to participate in First Friday and First Saturday Masses, but I try to keep every Friday and Saturday as days of special Reparation.

Yesterday, when I read your reply to my thread on celebrating the Feast of Mary, Mother of God, and you mentioned completing your nine First Fridays, I realized because of Mary’s Major Feast I had forgotten it was Friday – it had seemed so much like Sunday to me!!! So I was very grateful to you for reminding me. When I replied to you, I was on my way to substitute for a friend who was unable to keep her Hour of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. What a perfect way to offer reparation to the Sacred Heart, by being in His Eucharistic Presence and praying the sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary! God is Good!

Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary are very important and increasingly so as we see our world paying less and less attention to God.
In this Year of Mercy, by God’s Grace, may we learn from the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary to become more faithful children of so loving a Father as God, and so loving a Mother as the Father chose for His Son. Thank you Lord for giving Mary to be our mother from the Cross. Let us heed Your words spoken from Your Heart: “Behold your Mother”. Like John may we take Mary into our lives that we may grow more and more like You!

Thanks again, Nelka, for the reminder of First Friday Devotion. May Jesus continue to bless in many and varied ways, all who practice this devotion for love of Him. I would like to add one special favor granted to my older cousin who took me with her to Church every First Friday after I made my First Holy Communion. It wasn’t easy during the winter cold, early mornings in NY. She was praying for her husband to return safely from World War II. Thanks be to God he did return safely. They were a wonderful couple and had 7 children. :).
