Have you confessed all your sins?

Are there any folks on this message board who have not confessed all of their sins during reconciliation?
I have not been to confession for many years because I do not feel comfortable confessing all of my sins to a priest. I just feel uncomfortable confessing my sins to another human being.
Since I am not a hypocrite, I have not received the blessed sacrament.
 
While I understand your angst over this, I really think that’s an inappropriate thing to ask someone. My advice, take it or not, is bite the bullet and confess them all. It is the sacrament Jesus gave to us, and ultimately the reason he came. You are in my prayers.

I encourage you to go to Confession. Nevertheless, I commend you for not receiving the Eucharist unworthily.

Smoke a good cigar, take a straight shot of bourbon, and march into that Confessional!

I am not trying to ask something that is inappropriate in my posting here.
I am just wondering if there are others, like me, who are troubled over not being able to confess all of my sins to a priest.
God is our ultimate judge. It makes little difference what another human being says about our sin(s) and that person’s penance for the sin. Do not judge lest you be judged. What right does a priest have to sit in judgement? Yes, I know, another inappropriate question. Sorry.
 
I remember what my priest tells us. Confession isn’t where we talk about our entire life problems, its like a drive through order. Its to the point, there is no humiliation given and then theres the seal of confession.

Yeah the priest is there, but we got to remember that its our communication towards the Almighty,
the priest absolves the sins as Jesus said.

They are not there to give you dirty looks, God is in their presence for your repentance and penance. You will be in my prayers.
 
I don’t smoke, but your idea about the bourbon, perhaps a couple of bourbons, would be just the thing. LOL

Yes confess all you are conscious of. I think @Cruciferi suggestion might be good for me too.
 
@YourNameHere, fortunately the Church makes it possible to confess even the deepest, darkest sins of our lives. You can go to another parish where no one knows you; you can go behind a screen so even the priest doesn’t know who you are. You can admit to God and to yourself that you’ve made mistakes, and most of all, you can receive God’s mercy and love through the ministry of the priest.

I do understand what you are saying.
For me, sins are not like black and white. There sometimes needs some explanation. Therein lies the problem for me.
For example, if I were an embezzler, would I say, I stole money or I stole $20,000?
Do were say things like, I used the name of the Lord in vein or I used the name of the Lord in vein 20 or so times?
Sorry, I fear that I am opening a huge can or worms.

Even the anonymity of going to a different parish seems tough for me.
It is so very hard to confess some of those deepest, darkest sins.
Of course, I do believe that we hold ourselves to a much higher standard when it comes to confessing sins and asking for forgiveness.
I am not sure that I am worthy of forgiveness. I have said and done some things in my life that I am not proud of.
Maybe I need to see forgiveness from me first, before I ask a priest and God for forgiveness?
 
I’m sure the priest has heard worse than what you have to confess.
 
So regardless of what I have done, a priest is bound to give me absolution, just before I say I am sorry? That hardly seems like justice.
But I suppose regardless of what a priest says or does, God will judge us all on our last day. And that is all that truly matters, right?
 
Alexander, I appreciate what you are saying, but being the narcissistic person who I am, I am thinking of only my darkest sins and things that I am embarrassed to admit about myself. Please pray for me. Thanks!

Hey Eric, I get what is being said. But it is hard to admit your deepest, darkest things to another human being.
 
The kind and number. If the priest needs more he will ask. If you don’t know the number, something like many or some indication would suffice.
 
Actually, one Priest said he cannot remember what is confessed. To him it’s very foggy. Therefore, I always pray that my confession is forgotten and unremarkable 😊
