I was wondering if you have ever assisted someone to become a Christian, and how you approached this person and helped him/her?

Thanks!

Hey water!

I am helping my SIL come back to the CC. Her mother and 3 siblings converted to the WBTS (the JWs) 13 years ago. She was 8 when this happened, so she basically was forced into it. She’s now 22, and I am helping her come back to the CC. She was disfellowshipped because she made a mistake and had a baby out of wedlock. She’s a single mom and has struggled to feed her baby and have a place to live. She’s doing good though because her baby is her motivation.

Well, now, she wants to come back to the CC. I was telling her about the many mistakes the WBTS has made in the past, I bought the book “Crisis of Conscience” by Raymond Franz, a former JW who was a member of the governing body and was one of the 144,000 who are going to heaven. He disagreed with the JWs and got out, so I have that book, told her about it, and also about the UN affiliation this organization had when they say the UN is evil. Also, I showed her the “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth” tract, and gave her a little book of prayers. I am taking her to a rosary prayer session so she learns how to use a rosary, and today we’re going to Church so she can speak to a priest and confess. 😃

I guess it was pure luck with me because she was DF’d and was a bit disappointed already w/the JWs. So I made sure I stuck my foot in between the door and helped her out by showing her the mistakes of the JWs. Maybe I did wrong by showing her the mistakes, but I also showed her the great things our Church has to offer.

Also, a big part of this was that her mother just came back to the CC as well, so now she has help from her mom and her SIL (me). Her mom’s in Mexico, so I’m the only one she can turn to here. Her 3 JW siblings live here, but don’t know we’re doing this, if they knew they’d be very angry at the 2 of us. Especially her brother because I am married to him. I’ve been going out with her this whole week and talking to her about our faith and how priests are there to help, not to humiliate as the elders do in the WBTS. We’ve been hiding what we are doing because I don’t want to argue with my DH. Maybe later on, when she’s ready to come out as a Catholic to her siblings I can come out clean as well.

But to help a soul in need I will keep it a secret as long as I have to (this is something I will have to talk to a priest about because I don’t know if it’s a sin, but I am happy to do it).

Hope this helps…

wow, thank you yessisan for spending your time writing the post. It is really important and uplifting to read conversion stories like yours.

I pray that you and SIL will both be guided by the Holy Spirit and that she will see the truth. Also, I hope that the family will later accept the faith as well.

Yes, you don’t have to tell anyone yet, just keep praying and you will know when to tell.

God bless.

I have a Methodist friend who had backslidden and stopped going to church. I gave him a Bible for Christmas 3 years ago. He started going to church again and also going to Sunday school. He never had an “adult” Bible before I gave him one, he just had “student” Bible. This is someone who had been on the board at his church and then stopped going. I pray for him all the time. Maybe someday, the Holy Spirit will lead him to the Catholic faith, but if not, he is practising his Methodist faith now, praise be to God!:amen: :bible1: ❤️

I haven’t helped directly anyone convert, but I remember when I was young and saw how my mom spent time - one whole month while she was ill - explaining about God to my sister’s friend. The friend at that time was out of school, having no job, and my mom let her stay with us for the whole month.

After one month, the young lady converted from a strong Buddhist family to Catholic. About a year later, one of her young brothers converted to Catholic as well.

Thanks be to God. God surely has great plan even when you are ill. 🙂

That is a wonderful story. The Holy Spirit definitely was at work there. Praise be to God!:amen: ❤️ :bible1:
