Have you ever been a successful evangelical to convert a person to the Christian faith? Or going to your church?

Or going to your church?

It was easier for me to explain the faith back when I was an evangelical Christian. I had the great privilege to explain Jesus’ love and sacrifice to a dying woman who was very anxious. She had talked to the hospital chaplain and was not satisfied; was told something like whatever you want to believe, is true. I told her about the 4 spiritual laws and gave her a New Testament, and she died a few days later at peace. I am sure she is with Jesus.
I wonder if there is a simple explanation for Catholics. There is John 3:16, and you could go on to a sinner’s prayer. That would serve in case time is short. But I don’t think lay people have a succinct statement of the faith aside from that.

We cannot convert anyone but we can be instruments of the Holy Spirit.

With the intention in which you mean it, I can say definitely not. At the same time I have successfully changed many an Evangelical Protestant mind about Catholicism. 🙂

I don’t think it was me, per se, but I did get to witness someone come to the Church after having the chance to witness to that person, pray for them, and answer lots of questions about the faith. But there is no telling how many people may have been moved by the Spirit while I provided a simple witness of Christian living. I think that is our most powerful witness to folks (the way we live our daily lives).

I do have a blog and it tells me which posts were visited for the day/week/month/year. It has occurred to me that, while most of my blog “visitors” are probably spam-type visits, I’ve got a small handful of post that really get legit hits on a regular basis. So, maybe that is another way I get to witness to people.

r a Many years ago a Protestant asked me for a rosary. Around eight years later someone told me that that person was recieved into the Catholic Church.
