Have you ever considered becoming a priest, brother, or a nun?

I am still very young and have already started praying for my discernment. Are there any tips that any of you could give? Or how did you know which vocation was right for you? I have a slight pull towards the priesthood, but I just don’t know.

I’ve thought about the religious brotherhood life, but I feel that my dietary restrictions and health due to allergies would make it difficult for me to live in a community or join the priesthood. At the same time, I feel it makes it even more difficult for me to pursue the married life because of that. It worries me sometime, because I feel that the last thing God is calling me to do is to join the laity of single people. I also fear I would have trouble with poverty and chastity vows.

It’s kind of like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. I really need to pray more about it and do some research on different religious orders…

If I knew and understood at age 20 what I know and understand now, I’d seriously explore becoming a Dominican friar.

I’m not Catholic yet - I’m starting RCIA in September with the intention of becoming Catholic in the spring - but I am considering becoming a nun. Of course, I would want to wait a few years after converting, to give me time to learn and adapt to my new faith. I am praying about it a lot, and I’m researching the different religious orders to see where God might be calling me. His will, whatever it might be for my life, be done! 🙂
