Have you ever corrected any one during mass?

I was in the crying room with my new born, one and a half year old and three year old. A man, in the crying room with his seven year old child, opened the door. I closed it. He opened it, I closed it. Finally he said to me, “I have come to hear God’s word! I cannot hear it with your kids crying and climbing around! You have to get a grip on your kids!” I replied, “The reason I am in here with my crying, climbing around kids is so that you and your older child, can hear the Lords words. Out with the general congragation!”

It’s sad to say, but I have about 4 months ago. Two teenage girls
were sitting right behind my husband and I and from the very be-
ginning they were constantly talking. When Father was giving his
homily, I turned around and gave them both a “look”, they were
quite for about 5 minutes. During the Eucharistic prayer is a time
for complete silence with the exception of Father and music. They
were still talking, that’s when I turned around and said HUSH! They got quiet then. I just felt they needed to be respectful.

Shame on her.
Shame on you. I guess you don’t ever remember your daughter crying in Mass. For all you know, her other child was also being confirmed. Besides, there is nothing to “hear” about Confirmation. It’s all what you see happening. You also could have moved had it bothered you that badly.
We have no place “correcting” anyone other than our children, our spouses, and those profaning the Eucharist!

Once I was sitting in front of a mom and her two sons, who looked like late elementary, early middle school age. They were talking in surly, whiny tones, and I found it harder and harder to concentrate on the Mass. Finally, just before the consecration, when they were still at it, I whipped around and gave them the sternest look I could. (I have deepset eyes, and other people’s kids who don’t know me think I’m scary when I do this.) They shut up, and to their mother’s credit she reinforced the look by reprimanding them. I wanted to say, Finally!
