Have you ever gotten back with an ex?

Now THAT is a great question. My opinion…no. In fact, I would think you would try to go slower and more cautiously the second time since there were obvious discrepancies the first go-around. There’s almost the need for a “new start” to show things can and will be different this time around. My opinion. 🙂

Here’s a follow-up question. If you do get back with an ex, does it automatically make the relationship serious?
No. You can start right back at the same place you left off, or you can consciously work to improve things. Getting back together with someone can be a really BAD idea, or it can work out.

I seem to have a very different opinion than many others. I am friends with all my ex’s. I’m not saying it was easy, it took time. I realized this during my first break up. I was devistated…completely heart broken! And I had a choice to make, either loose him forever out of my life or find a way to remain friends. I sat long and hard about it and I thought of all the reasons we were FRIENDS before we dated. Not very many people understand why I want to be friends with people from my past but the truth is deep down these are the people that helped form who I am today, people that know the ins and outs about me and still love me, and then people that always to this day are behind me when things get rough. I thank God every day I made that choice years ago to be friends after dating because some of my best friends are ones from my past.
As for dating…sometimes two people are right for eachother but just not at that time. God pulls us towards people and away from people for reasons we do not understand. But if you have an opportunity to start again with a loved one I would take it if it was something I really wanted. But with doing that you have to go into it with a completely open mind. Starting new and not bringing up the past. It’s the only way to give it a fair chance. Maybe you were pulled away from that person to learn more about yourself, family, career, schooling, or growing with God…and sometimes you don’t know the reason, but give it a second chance if that is what your heart wants. In the end you will wind up where you are supposed to be with whom you are supposed to be with. If you believe that you will be okay. Best wishes!!!

Have you ever gotten back with an ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend? If so, how did it turn out? Thank you.
Never. Once I move on I can’t go back. I don’t hold a grudge or anything but once I let go of certain feelings it’s not possible to regain them especially when the other person was the instigator in the break up it kind of destroys the trust there for me maybe and once that’s gone it’s pretty much over.

Nope! Never ever.
I guess it just depends on how the relationship ended up and why.
But I just can’t.
That’s a big part of it. If circumstances cause a break up like moving to a different school or an job transfer far away that’s a different thing then two people having breaking up because of relationship issues.

No. Once I finish a book I do not feel the need to re-read it, and once my relationship with an individual ends there is no reason to go back.

Nor will I “be friends”, once we’re done we’re done.

I give you this long history because I think in most relationships, especially if you’re younger, taking a short break from each other helps both of you to step away and pray and develop clarity.
Yes. Especially if you are a couple who sees each other almost every day for several hours a day. A break is good to see if you would miss them when their not around and also if you can think rationaly about the relationship when you are apart. You have all the time in marriage to see each other all the time! 😃

Here’s a follow-up question. If you do get back with an ex, does it automatically make the relationship serious?
In general, I would say no. For example, in the case of the fortunate fellow to whom I was engaged twice but ended up not marrying, we broke up the first time when I ended the engagement. When we got back together, we did not consider ourselves engaged again until he asked me for a second time to be his wife. So in that sense, our relationship was less serious when we reunited than it was at the time of our breakup.

Breaking up is taking a step back. I don’t see how getting back together systematically means “this is serious.” I suppose it could be this way on a case-by-case basis, but it’s not a given every time.

Decided to give it another try. We’re taking things slow. Prayers would be appreciated.

Were you chaste in your relationships? If so, it makes sense that these people would still be a part of your life. If the relationships were not chaste, then I can imagine your furture spouse might not be all too thrilled with the decision.
