The only time I have left during a Mass was when a visiting priest felt it fit to begin discussing politics during his homily. Myself, along with another gentleman, left during this display.
I go to church to hear a message of salvation, forgiveness, and healing, not to hear what I can hear perfectly well on the 6 o’clock news. Sometimes I need a break from the world - being in church offers me this break. I want to be able to take back at least 1 hour a week from what our crazy world throws at us. I don’t need to have politics thrown at me while sitting in a pew.
