Have you ever had dreams that proved to be prophetic?

Yes. Very often, these dreams are symbolic images and paintings, which later in the events of the following days open to interpretation.

Simply a self fulfilling prophecy, not a real one.
A prophecy is not predicting a bus ride.
Sir, please speak for yourself and do not presume to denigrate the experiences of others. My dreams have been visual and those scenes have matched what I later experienced. This has happened many times. I do not claim that these things are the same a Biblical prophecies at all. I do think that they are relevant to the title of this thread.

Your criticism is not well taken and is out of place.

I dozed off once while studying late in college. I had a dream that I was following Pope Benedict as he walked through a building. He entered a room inside which a handful of cardinals and bishops were standing around a table with a single chair. On the table a document and a pen. His Holiness spoke to the Cardinals for a little while before he sat at the desk and signed the document. Looking over His Holiness’s shoulder, I could see that it was the authorization to promulgate (make known) that John Paul II would be beatified. This was very early in the morning Thursday. The next Sunday, the Vatican announced that John Paul II would be beatified and the promulgation had been signed the previous Thursday morning. The approximate time (including the time change) aligned with my dream. It was not so much of a prophecy of the future, as seeing an event as it happened.

There is nothing statistically surprising about your experience. There are billions of dreams every night and the fact that someone coincidentally has a dream that is in some form is “prophetic” is not surprising. Especially true if the definition of “prophetic” is broad.

Sir, This thread is a question about your personal experiences, and is not intended as a forum for criticizing or denigrating the experiences of others.

We are not attempting to say there is something surprising in it. I am just relaying what occurred.

However, it was not just a dream. It was a dream that had a tell, following a similar format to previously when I had a dream that also came true. That, I think, is the odd part.

This happened to me just this week. I dreamed my great-grandmother who died when I was small gave me her prayer beads and then when I was walking in the park near my house yesterday I found a rosary. There’s a church across the street from the park, so I guess someone dropped it.

This is a discussion forum wherein people may give their opinions on comments made by other posters. It is not a forum simply for agreeing with everything that is said. If I disagree with something or question a point put forward I will say so.

Ohmygosh, yes! I never understood why it happens so much. I will have a dream about something, and then will see what was in my dream the next day. And, I’ve been so confused by it because its trivial matters I dream about. Maybe it happens to us because we’ve got the Holy Spirit with us. 😉

I’ve had dreams which have almost perfectly predicted the events of the next day but I wouldn’t describe any of them as prophetic.

Although, more recently I had one which may be prophetic:
I was alone, trapped in a stone cave fighting off some sort of demonic beast. Then I heard a beautiful voice singing in a language I didn’t recognise. I turned around and saw Her, the Blessed Virgin Mary warding off the beast, which retreated into a fiery abyss.

I don’t know if it was prophetic at all or if it was just one of my random dreams that happened to seem like it could be.

Nope. Don’t expect to have that happen either. I dream about similar scenarios as in previous conversations, or people that I recently remembered. All normal things in your mind winding down for the night, nothing more.

Please note that the title of the thread is:

HAVE YOU EVER HAD DREAMS THAT PROVED TO BE PROPHETIC?

You have not posted a single thing in that regard, but seem to be here only to denigrate the experiences of others whom you do not even know.

It was not a “vision,” it was just a dream as are most of the other relevant posts on this thread. As I noted you have not made a single post in regard to the question of the thread, but seem to be hear only to troll on another person’s experiences. You comment was NOT an answer to the thread’s question. It was offensive, and I think that you intended it to be so. Please go away if you no answer to the question of the thread.

Naughty naughty!! Be careful.

I do not have to talk about myself. This is a discussion forum where anyone can make comments. The bus ride dream in my opinion is not a prophecy. It was a simply self fulfilling dream (if even true) and had nothing to do with prophecy.

I guess it depends on what one means by the word “prophetic.”

If prophetic means foretelling the future, then yes, I have had dreams like that. But they had zero bearing on my life. So what if I had a dream about the election of the Holy Father? I have no influence there, and my dream benefitted no one, not even me.

But if prophetic means warnings (e.g., Jonah to Nineveh or Jeremiah to Israel) that lead to prayer, repentance, conversion, or even just a change in attitude or direction – then yes, I have had many of those sorts of dreams. There was no foretelling of the future, just something that got my attention and drove me to change direction.

God speaks to each soul in the ways He chooses. With me, He uses the brain He gave me to speak to me in my extremely vivid dreams. Yeah, it’s just my subconscious putting pieces together. But God uses the ordinary to show us the extraordinary ALL. THE. TIME.

I’m good with that. 😄
