I envy you. The vast majority of churches I’ve been too are far too noisy before and after Mass to allow for prayer. True, one could discipline himself to be quiet in the midst of chaos, but it would be nice if churches could be quiet and reverent places.

I do think I am fortunate in my parish. My pastor has started keeping the lights dim before Mass, which has reduced the noise beforehand (not that it was that bad to begin with).

On Sundays, I’m mostly in the cry room. That clears out pretty fast, so it becomes a nice place to pray after Mass is over.

Yes. I was beginning to get an aural migraine which distorts my vision entirely and also noise affects the pain level. I have to sit in a silent dark room. I had five minutes to get home before I am basically blind.

Another time, a priest inadvertedly said something during his homily that triggered me. I know that sounds snowflake, but he discounted sexual abuse as the abuser having a “low sense of self esteem. Poor man”. The abuser in our family was narcissistic and only his ideas/thoughts/emotions had any merit. I had to walk out.
