It seems… odd to me that someone would think protestants would lie about being a Christian for those reasons, whereas Catholics wouldn’t…There should be no point in time where a Catholic should EVER lie about being Catholic even to death.
Of course this is a catholic perspective maybe those without a deep understanding of sin and what that does to our relationship with God (and in turn our salvation) wouldn’t care or those who think the false once saved always saved stuff.
Anywho, to answer the OP; no, I’ve not lied about my religion. I have, however, been in the position to announce I’m Christian, but to then basically sit quietly and learn things that don’t line up with my faith and then take tests where I had to regurgitate the data I consider to be wrong. Many many Christians have to do that in college, esp. in certain areas of physical sciences. I don’t believe in Darwinian evolution, but still had to answer test questions based on Darwin’s understanding of non-directed evolution, and got used to just stating facts instead of owning them as my own opinion.
