I met Mother Teresa when I was a child. I was one of the poor whom her order serves, as I have mentioned in another thread. I was not Catholic, and I was a child also, so I had no preconceived notions of what she might be like. To be honest, I had no idea who she was other than she was “Mother” and was the leader of the Sisters. I don’t feel comfortable going into the details of how or why, but I spent about 20 minutes alone with her while she talked to me and basically took care of me, together with one other Sister.
She seemed much like one of the other sisters, excepting that she was old. I remember thinking she was very strong, as when she hugged me her grasp was very tight. I was offered red tea to drink, and I made a face at it, so she agreed with me that it looked a funny color and told me not to drink it.

She was one of those people who, for lack of a better word, is extremely easy to be with. I felt very comfortable and trusting of her immediately, which was a rare thing for me as a child. I would have told her anything she asked without fear.
Later on, I asked the other sisters where Mother was because I wanted to see her again, and I was disappointed when they told me she had left. I wrote a letter to her. She remembered me and answered my letter! It was a huge thrill for a poverty-stricken kid who never got mail. I still didn’t really grasp who she was, but it made me feel important that the “boss” of the Sisters was writing to me. After my mother died I wrote her another letter which she also answered. I treasure both letters, I now keep the originals in a safety deposit box at the bank.
I have sometimes felt or suspected that she is watching over me and has helped me to successful in my life. I rarely talk about it but I assume this is a safe place to share that info without being called crazy!
It blows my mind that she is becoming a saint and I KNEW HER. I’m not sure about an “aura” or presence, but I was definitely attracted to her immediately, I really liked her. She was ordinary, but in an extraordinary way, if that makes any sense.
