A canonized saint? um, no . . . . but I was lucky enough to have met Fr. John Hardin when I was a teenager. He taught catechism classes for my sister the Sister while she was a novice and I got to tag along a few times. He was incredible! just so knowledgeable and unshakeable in the faith! I’d give anything to be in one of his classes now as I didn’t fully appreciate it then!

Then, in 1996, I got to visit Sr. Mary (my sister) in Rome for 2 weeks. She somehow managed to get us tickets to one of JPII’s Wednesday morning audiences – in the front row! His holiness walked into St. Peter’s and lit up the entire place with a radiance of love and warmth. It was awesome! When people talk about “magnetic personalities” - John Paul II certainly had that charisma! Then, when he came near where we were standing, I bent down to kiss his ring, and as I stood back up, he tugged on my hair and then kissed my cheek. He asked where I was from (in Polish) and after fumbling thru my poor Itailian trying to answer, he mercifully switched into English and we had a wonderful chat. He blessed several Rosaries for me to give to friends back home. Then, before moving on, he told me that I was destined to “do something great” and he asked me to pray for him. I don’t know exactly what that great thing is, but I can’t wait to find out what God’s got planned! All for the glory of God!!

That is SOOO COOL, that you got to talk to JP II! I was at two audiences-and one ordination Mass at St. Peter’s-but never got the chance to talk to him. I remember the second time I saw him [in November 1981] I leaned over the barricade in the Paul VI Hall and yelled, “HOLY FATHER!” It was too noisy, so he didn’t hear me…I think I should have said, “PRAISED BE JESUS AND MARY!”

Now that would have gotten his attention…😉

It was an incrdible meeting! The other Sisters from my sister’s order - the ones who live in Rome and have been to many audiences told us that it would be loud and people would be pushing us, but the strange thing is that it was so quiet. there was such a reverance and peace all about us. Sr. Superior said it was almost like others were trying to hear our conversation! 😉

A friend of mine knew St. Padre Pio, and went to his San Giovanni Rotundo.

Padre had a great sense of humor along with his great sanctity and discipline.

I recall how my friend and his buddies once came back from laboring to the church and forgot themselves, they went inside while still wearing shorts and t-shirts. Suddenly one of them said “Oh no, look what we’ve done. What if Padre sees us?” and at that very moment, all the way across the church, the Confessional popped open and Padre’s grinning face peered out.

They ran for the hills!

Of course for him to have heard them in any natural way… well.

So it was a bit of fun as well as a lesson about proper dress.

I’ve been in the same church with Mother Teresa in Miami FL, and with John Paul II at Madison Square garden in New York and at a street motorcade in a Miami FL.

One day at work a little woman pass by me in a wheel chair, I really didn’t see her face or knew anything about her, but I was swept by the presence of her holiness. I had no reason to think this of her, she looked like any ordinary person taking a Flight to Haiti. It just smacked me, I didn’t even see her coming.

I never have but it is possible someone here could have known a person in the process of being canonized or even declared a saint
My grandmother was a saint. Of that I am convinced. I call her blesséd.

As far as declared… I’d say Mother Angelica will be a fine intercessor after her passing away.

Also… should Cardinal Arinze become a saint. I’d say encountering him is truly something else. I’ve gotten the same notion from those anonymous nuns on the street with their smiling eyes and almost tangible purity, whose presence makes Satan run for cover.

I met the relic of St. Paul the Apostle… That counts as far as I’m concerned. That encounter gave me an enormous amount of clairvoyance. You know the type of clarity of thought attained immediately after prayer… Like that times a hundred. But, it was still less clarity than quietude and MUCH LESS of a reality than infuesed contemplation (a gift indeed). Thank you Jesus.

Now my scapular gives, or even just holding my rosary, or touching holy water, or an icon is amazing truly. But, relics are temples of the Holy Spirit.
