Requiem aeternam dona eis , Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescant in pace Amen. (repeat 3 times)

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the Souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. (repeat 3 times)

Prayer of St Gertrude the Great:
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of thy Divine Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my own family. Amen.

Well… I’m sorry others have had scary experiences like this too, but, on the other hand, I’m kinda glad I’m not the only one 🙃

This is the first time I saw the video, and first time I’ve discussed it with anyone. The prayers I posted are what I’ve been saying regularly.

Interesting… how do I explain, though, the weirdly strong conviction I have that it was actually an evil entity? I’ve had horrible dreams but I realize they’re dreams. In this case, I don’t think I actually woke up.

I already answered for myself above, but I think I’ll include a story from my uncle. But I caution you, despite his years as a military chaplain, this is what he considers one of the scariest parts of his life.

My uncle is a retired priest. Many years ago, when he was newly made a pastor, a family approached him saying that their new house was haunted. My uncle saw that they had three young sons and told them their children were probably playing tricks. But the couple invited him to dinner to see for himself. During dinner there was the sound of a door slamming upstairs and giggling. The father leaned toward my uncle and said “So, which of my sons did that?” For of course, they were all seated in front of him.

My uncle visited several times during the next few weeks. He said the main things he noticed were the doors opening and closing themselves, the faucets turning on (mostly the garden hose), and a lot of giggling. About the garden hose - once my uncle tried to force it off when he saw it starting to twist on. He described feeling it twist the wrong way in his hand as one of the most unsettling things he ever experienced. He told the family to research the house. He blessed the house - and everything got much worse.

Finally, it was discovered that the previous occupants were an adult daughter and her elderly mother. When they contacted the daughter, they discovered the following things about the old woman: she enjoyed working in the garden, liked doors to be closed when rooms were empty, and often talked and laughed to herself while going about her business. She died in the house one day when the daughter was at work. The daughter moved shortly after.

My uncle taught the family to use holy water and pray for the old woman’s soul. He said many Masses for her. Gradually, everything tapered off so that eventually, the house became as quiet as any other.

I have seen/experienced things. Not sure if I’d call them ghosts, or what.
  1. In the house where I grew up, there would be a black nearly transparent male figure walk around inside of the house from time to time. At times I would also notice a female “presence” in the house that I never could actually pin down.
  2. In late 2015, I was in Savannah, Georgia, and was walking by one of the older homes that had been converted into a historical museum of sorts. As I walked by the wrought iron gate, I observed a black nearly transparent male seated on a wrought iron chair in the garden. Supposedly, legend has it that it’s the long-time gardener of the place from the antebellum era (something I learned after seeing whatever it was in the garden).
  3. When I used to work at the downtown Akron, Ohio Methodist Church during law school, I’d sometimes come in and hear people singing, but there was nobody else in the building. Would have unexplained events such as power cutting out to parts of the building but the breakers being fine, strange noises, etc… The building would even “breathe” at times.
  4. At work, after hours, I will sometimes hear things like electronic locks cycling, and noises from the other floors when the building should be empty. I have even heard something calling my name while working there. There are times when I simply leave the building, because something in my head tells me it’s time to go, that there is something present in the building that I don’t want any part of. One time, when I really needed to get something done that particular night, I recited the prayer to St. Michael, and the strange noises, etc. ceased. Whether it was a placebo effect or something real, I cannot say.
  5. In my current house, I have motion sensors that detect “movement” in empty rooms.

Yikes. Any experience I ever had remotely similar to the stuff in this thread was debunked almost on the spot, save irrational childhood fears that I’ve now recognized as such for years.

No, but my Mother had as a young child about 5 years old. It was a woman in black who looked like she was in mourning, she smiled at my Mother and walked down the stairs. My Grandmother heard the footsteps. Many things happened in the house, and my Grandmother only discussed it once with me, She said she never liked the house.

If this continues you should see a sleep specialist. This is a sleeping disorder, known as sleep paralysis. It doesn’t have anything to do with ghosts.

It only happened once and that was over 10 years ago. Perhaps it could have been that but I never had any sensations of not being able to move or of hearing things or feeling anything touch me. I just saw something and was able to roll out of the way & scream when it seemed to move closer to me. I scared my husband half to death who was sleeping peacefully. 😴 😱 😲

It was a creepy experience for sure whether it was a result of dreaming or something more sinister. I’ve never made a firm determination either way.

Decades ago, before I was born, My family’s house experienced several years of demonic activity. It started with the birth of my parents second child, my eldest brother, and it escalated over the course of five years.

First it was a voice talking over the baby monitor then temperature changes and frost on the furniture. Howling and the rattling of chains also occurred. A part of the wall got hot to the touch even though nothing was inside or near it. Finally, it revealed itself as a misty figure and started tormenting my siblings at night.

It ended after one night my mother took everyone into the living room and prayed to God the Father to deliver the family from this demon. According to her, the apparition followed them down the hall and stood watching them. It wouldn’t move past a blessed crucifix hanging on the wall. Then, a beam of light shot out of the ceiling into the entity. It disappeared and hasn’t reappeared. Weeks later a family friend returning from Italy gave my parents a pewter statue of St. Michael.

My neurologist, when treating me for sleep paralysis, considered it a sleep disorder. That is all I was going by.

I don’t believe in ghosts or other paranormal phenomena.

That said, members of my family have told me about experiences they’ve had. They are sincere but I make no judgement as to the truth of their respective claims, because I’ve never experienced anything similar myself and the mind can often deceive.

One of them: my brother lived in an Edwardian house once owned (and built) by a landed aristocrat in the early 1900s. He had never seen a photograph of the house’s architect and owner before. To cut a long story short, some peculiar things had been going on in the house - the usual stuff: paintings being moved around, doors being locked suddenly etc. Then, one evening, his dog started growling and my brother claimed he saw a man dressed in lavish period clothes with high-cheek bones and other features, staring at him.

He was disturbed by the experience and to ease his mind I did an archival search for a photograph of the old proprietor. I found a portrait of him sitting outside the house and asked my brother to describe the man he’d allegedly seen while I checked the painting. His description was an exact one of the man in question, down to minute details.

He swears to me that he’d never seen a photograph or painting of him before.

I don’t believe in ghosts, as I said, but I do recognise the sincerity of my sibling in respect of this experience. Maybe, he had some kind of hallucination or sleep disorder. Perhaps, he had seen an image before but simply forgotten he’d done so. I don’t know, he’s adamant about it though.

😱

I would’ve moved. Far, far away.

Another “story” from a different relative:

She lived in a house and started to hear rattling noises, like a ball and chains, every night after she put the lights out. Eventually, the sounds were driving her insane because none of the neighbours was found to be the cause of the disturbance. One night, after sundown, she entered her living room and in the opaque gloom thought she saw a tall, dark figure illuminated by the glow outside standing in front of her window such that his body prevented her from seeing beyond, and he had chains.

She had a serious panic attack and moved house. Later, she discovered that the house had been a converted Victorian prison from the 1850s, and once housed tons of convicts. She’d known nothing about this when she lived there, obviously.

As stated, I don’t personally put any stock in paranormal phenomena but I did find these two episodes (from different relatives) a little freaky, nonetheless.

Thanks for sharing that. It goes to prove that Satan is powerless against the believer!

Yes, and as a kid I thought my house was haunted.
Lots of stuff happened.
One being that my cousin and I saw a small kid running down our hall way. We were having a party, so we thought it was another kid since he looked like one of them, but when we followed the ghost, no one was there. It was creepy.

I have a sister, she too thought it was haunted. I eventually stopped sleeping upstairs and slept downstairs for a long time. My toys in my room would go off by themselves (I can attribute this maybe to faulty toys), and one time my father slept in my room (I didn’t sleep in it, but downstairs) and heard a child’s voice say, “This is my favorite toy”, referring to a woody doll. When we moved, my parents didn’t want me to bring that specific doll with us, but I did anyway.

I also would hear footsteps and felt like someone was there.

Overall it’s creepy, and I think it may have been haunted.

We moved from there, but then had to move back, and I think it’s a lot better now. I don’t think we really prayed the Rosary back in the day.

Been there, wrecked that, as a friend of mine of Irish descent used to say. I grew up in KY’s second oldest city. Ghosts and other phenomena were just way of life there. We’d pray for them, of course, but we didn’t know who was who where the presences were concerned.

The small college I attended for five years – yep, you guessed it. “Haunted” to the gills.

Moved to TN. Got a job in one of the oldest buildings in town. Phenom there, too. When I was preggers with the first child, we had phenom in our apt. I asked a priest whose mom was a well-known mystic in his native country, and he said to have Miraculous Medals blessed for the purpose of exorcism, and place one in each room.

We had our pastor give our house a “quiet” blessing the day our son passed away in his room. He had had a lot of bad experiences in his room, to include night terrors. He had told us that over the July 4 weekend, there had been three knocks on his room door. Then there were three quieter knocks on the front door. He liked horror movies, and I kept asking him to get rid of them.

For those posting who are scared, I suggest holy water, St. Benedict medals, Miraculous Medals, and a picture of Mary, Terror of Demons. (“Demoneum Terror”). There is also Psalm 68 – "Then God arose for judgement, and His enemies were scattered, and let all those who hate Him flee before His face.

Blessings,

This is called sleep paralysis. There was no actual demon in your room. It was simply your brain trying to make sense of why you couldn’t move.
It might have been sleep paralysis on one occasion but it doesn’t explain the orbs and entities I saw when wide awake. I believe I was being attacked because I returned to the Church. Nothing remotely similar has happened since I moved.

Sometimes people see something in a dream.
Sometimes a person sees his evil enemy or fatal lover in his terrible imagination.
For example, people who come from war are sometimes subjected to horrors and visions that some experience in despair.
Sometimes after the death of the deceased people can imagine something.
For studying of related subjects I like to read Shakespeare’s " Macbeth" ( also - Richard the Third)
I think that some ofShakespeare’s works are professional material for this research.
