Have you ever spent a LONG time at the Real Presence (Catholic or Protestant)?

Bats are actually very good for the environment. They are “protected” in our area. So about all one can do is to seal off their entrance to the building. This would be near impossible in the old Church we first used. Besides, we are the center of a farming area so bats didn’t bother a lot of people…except when they were mad that we invaded their home.

Another bat story. We live in a very old house and of course a bat family spends the winter in our attic. They rarely got into the main part of the house but when they did, my boys got after them while I screamed.

Not all of my children remained in the Catholic religion. However, one of my more curious boys (who no longer practiced the Faith) went with me to opening night of Adoration. As you know, that was the night that part of the ceiling/wall intersection fell and the bats were defending their territory. A small temporary altar had been set up in the transept of the main Church because it seemed more intimate than the bigger main section. Rob and I were in front of the altar when I spotted the flying monster. I froze and stared straight ahead at Jesus in the monstrance, not moving a muscle. Rob just watched. When we were leaving, he said, "You know Mom, there must be something very special about the Blessed Sacrament on the altar. Otherwise, when that bat came toward you, you would have been under the pew screaming.

Blessings,
John 3: 16-17
I’m not a member of Peta (not even freaking hardly!!!) but it is kinda cool nobody wwanted to kill the bats… Well, probably people did want to kill them… Maybe YOU? 😃 but i tend to beleive in letting living things live if they aren’t causing any seroius harm to humans…

i hate even killing bugs… I do it sometimes… but I’ve been known to go to some trouble to get certain bugs outside… so i dont have to kill them…

i dont seem to hate killing flies much, though…i hate those *&^%#@s… and i wont try to save spiders… when i think of them crawling on me unawares… that’s all it takes … i grab the nearest shoe and my reticence to kil goes out the window… 🙂

Are you kidding?? its a sacrifice for me NOT to be There…

Bless you. It is your love for Jesus that helps drag in the likes of me.

When I come to the Chapel at other times, I always thank the scheduled adorer for being so faithful. The usual response is – “I do so little.” Little? Miracles take place because of time before the Real Presence.

I wish I could wash out background noise that readily,
yeah its kinda strange to me that i am like that… i thought it was a problem with hearing, which… well, my hearing is not the best… but it has nothing to do with hearing… Now that i think about it, maybe Jesus just gave me this gift… 🙂 thanks, Jesus… 🙂 The Word says that God is a jealous God… maybe He is jealous enough to make me “slectively deaf”…:).
honestly what I prefer doing while adoring the blessed sacrament is reading the bible. Currently I’m working on both the Gospel of John and Romans so believe me when I tell you I could really use as much reading time as I can get.
i just got finished with the whole Bible. romans and John are a walk in the park compared to… what it is… Exodus through… the end of the OT… VERY violent… people gettin killed righ and left… .the Israelites cuz they disobeyed God… then the Kings and their armies that persecuted the Israelites… took their land… killed everyone… Yikes… nowdays, I think God saves all that wrath stuff for the hereafter… for the most part…
My last oppertunity to adore featured the music ministry (the more contemporary band that plays for yougth masses) playing some more contemporary (but at least appropriate in nature) songs the whole time. It was a constant sound track, I couldn’t read the bible. So I took the hint that may Jesus just wanted me to sit with him that evening.
it kinda baffles me that others (not you or most people who responded to this thread…)dont seem to understand my thing with Jesus at the Blessed Sacrament… i know Jesus doesn’t just do wonderful things for me alone…

i think the ones who have a problem with the RP are those who dont give it much of a chance… maybe they spend 20 minutes There… and then get restless… tell themslves it 's not working… and thye have things to get done… dinner to cook, cars to wash… etc… so they take off… and miss out … 🤷😦

Bless you. It is your love for Jesus that helps drag in the likes of me. 😃
i laugh at this… not sure why… but thanks so much for saying this… i rarely get much feedback on … well, how i might be – possibly annoying people… 😃

O Sacrament Most Holy
so true… 🙂

@distracted, I’ve completed the whole Pentateuch, 1 & 2 Peter, Acts of the Apostles, Gospel of Matthew and Revelation thus far… Honestly I’m getting more and more into taking my time with it and really delving into the scriptures. I want to know as deeply as I can what it is I’m reading. For instance last night I read Romans 3, for much of it I was stopping reading Chanllors cross references to the pslams and scripture notes. The only reason why I wasn’t reading Haydock and his commentary is b/c it was already 11:30 and I had to get to bed at a reasnoble hour.

thanks for reminding me… i have a Bible that is supposed to be Catholic but has HORRIBLE footnotes… I got to the point where i was not bothering to read them… sometimes they were (WERE) interesting cuz of the historical content… explanations… but i dont trust evn those now cuz the writer is not orthodox Catholic… can’t recall any specific example at this time but will have an example tomorrow… if i remember … It is a New American Standard… not sure which edition or whatever…

Ok, i remember one unorthodox thing… The writer said, as a footnote to the psg about Jesus and his “brothers and sisters”… that the thing about mary not having relations w/ Joseph “until” Christ’s birth… did not necessarily mea she had relations w/ him after…but it did not preclude the meaning that she DID either…!! (this after admitting that there was no word in the Hebrew language for cousins…)

I wasn’t aware that any version of the ASB had an impramature, are you quite sure that’s a Catholic bible? It could be I simply wasn’t aware of any version but there are I suppose. For notes my current fav is the Haydock Douay-Rhiems bible, Challnore can be good but he’s sparce. I’m also looking out for the CSS (Catholic Scripture Study) RSV bible which is being put together, Dr. Hahn is putting together the notes for that edition. I think that will provide me the best balance between “old school” and “new school” orthodox theological understanding.

i think it has the nihil obstat and impramatur…

i will check…

in any case… i know Mary was a perpetual virgin… but some Catholics, so called… have to defer to the protestants all the time… so we can be “ecumenical”… Oh please…

Truth is truth… The protestants will just have to adjust…

if we adjust to them we will be protestant…

Luther was a heretic… ex-communicated…

even if the Church didn’t formally ex-communicate most ex-communicatable persons… God himself does so in Heaven… its called the Book of LIfe…

far as i know Nancy Pelosi is not formally ex-com’d… but… God sees things differently…

if she promotes abortion… she is not Catholic… but that should be a no-brainer…

i dont see how the Episcopalians can have adoration when they don’t really Transubstantiate the hosts?

only an ordained Catholic priest can do that… The only way the Episcopalians would have the Real thing… would be if they had a former Catholic priest (yet he is “priest forever”) as a minister…
After asking this question of both Catholics and Protestants, responding in this manner is not very kind of you. Besides, not only Catholic priests can confect a valid Eucharist according to Catholic teaching - the Orthodox, PNCC and Old Catholic priests can as well. And many Episcopal priests ordained in the past half-century can trace their lines through the Old Catholics. Even absent Apostolic Succession, I suspect that a loving and merciful God would bless us with his presence, although of course you are free to believe otherwise.

i believe the truth. Period.

and i am not going to answer any more of your posts since you are being uncharitable…

(also it might help if you read a few of my posts…)

it’s not that i can’t tolerate “lack of charity”…(Define Charity…) if the point being made is valid…

but sometimes posters just say any old hateful thing just cuz they don’t like you…

and/or dont like your opinion (or the truth) cuz it disagrees w/ them

some people can’t stand the truth… probably cuz they didn’t think it up 1st… or something…

just wondering… I’ve heard of Protestants spending time There… when a Catholic friend couldn’t fulfill his or her obligation… so i know some Protestants spend time There…

seems like not many of either persuasion do, though… 😦
Define " along time?" I have othern spent two hours or more.

It depends upon the Episcopalian priest, some have bothered getting holy orders. In fact CAF has such a priest (bishop indeed if I remember correctly). As you so eloquantly stated in another thread, the key to being able to confect a host (well the main one as far as protestants go) is having valid holy orders at all. Beyond that yes you need proper form et. al. but if such a priest has bothered getting valid orders then they’re probably also clued into the rest.

This has been my experience with Protestants regarding the Lord’s supper. Even though many consider the bread symbolic, or that Jesus is only present upon reception, there is great devotion to Jesus Christ Who died for all.

Years ago, I would bring the Catholic Eucharist to patients in the hospital. If the roommate was not Catholic, I would still pray with the person or include the roommate in some way only if the roommate so desired. I will never forger the Methodist woman who understood the difference between the religions yet shared with me how she longed for a communion worship service. At that time, her particular church did not have regular communion services. Of course, I passed this message on to her pastor and ever since when I meet a Methodist pastor, I tell him or her this woman’s desire because she is not alone.

My point is that when Christians truly understand the message of Christ and why He hung bleeding from a cross, there is a deep desire to be as close to Him as possible. To kiss the thorn torn head. To wash away the dripping blood with tears.

Of course, none of us can go back in time to the actual Crucifixtion. But we should continually love and thank Jesus, ask Him for mercy and for help in the best way we can. It is not my position to evaluate how Christians worship God. All I can do is encourage them to do the best they can in whatever circumstances they are in. It is my position to share the good news of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Catholic Eucharist. To explain that the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is an unbloody re-presentation. Beyond that, the individual chooses how to worship Jesus. Active worship of Jesus Christ is essential.

John 3: 16&17

Hi

I am actually about leaving the RCC.
But I got again in contact with a fellow student of mine who is a charismatic Catholic.
She took me last week to a (charismatic) adoration and I was amazed how deeply I could feel the Lord there, much more intense than in a Pentecostal or Baptist Service.
I felt as if the hot summer sun would shine on my breast.
It was really amazing.
And I got filled with the Holy Spirit and started recititing Bible Verses (this was btw welcomed) - i even got once the same Bible Verse in my heart than the monk who celebreted the adoration (he told me afterwords).

In fact, most Anglican lines of ordination are “valid” in this sense these days. But even if you look at the earlier arguments against the validity of Anglican orders, they are controversial even among Catholic theologians.

Of course Anglican orders have been declared invalid no matter what they do simply by the authority of the pope, but of course most Anglicans don’t think the pope has any power to make such a decree.

Anglican order are in fact null and void, so any anglican priest ordained with such lines are not validly ordained and thus can not confect a host. Those who are in fact practicing anglican clergy, but are ordained with lines other than those of the older anglican lines are in fact validly ordianed priests in the eyes of Rome, and can confect the hosts.

With regard to the Anglicans “native” lines being declared null and void, I have aboslute confidence in this. In fact, before writing this bull, the Pope ordered the comission in charge of studying the matter to go back and study it again. Because “null and void” wasn’t the answer he was looking for, he was looking for “valid” which would have quickened the reunification of our Churches in that era.

As it is, those lines are utterly null and void, and reunification would wait for a later date. Perhaps we’re on the cusp of it now.

As I occasionally get to repeat, the story of Apostolicae Curae is a hobby of mine, of many years standing. What the commission was charged with were two questions, formulated primarily by Cardinal Vaughan, who was the motivation behind the commission (and quite determined what the outcome should be). The commission was a reaction, and not the original one planned, to the efforts of Lord Halifax and the Abbe Portal to start a sort of early form of the ARCIC, to see if there was a possibility of moving the Anglicans and the RCC closer together. The two questions put before the (originally 6 man, later 8 man) commission were what was the RCC attitude toward the question of Anglican orders,ab initio, and should this attitude be changed.

The story of that sad is affair is long, and covers theological, political and personal factors. The way to interpret the final judgment, for a faithful RC, is to consider Anglican orders null and void. An Anglican is free to take a different view of the matter (and the form and the intent). And we do.

The best single exposition of the logic behind this judgement is found in (then Jesuit Fr.) Francis Clark’s ANGLICAN ORDERS AND DEFECT OF INTENTION. The best expression of a possible Anglican defense against it may be found in Fr. J. J. Hughes’ two books, ABSOLUTELY NULL AND UTTERLY VOID and STEWARDS OF THE LORD. Fr. Hughes is a very interesting individual, by the way.

The question of the infusion of other, valid episcopal lines into Anglicanism is also an interesting subject. Logically, assuming valid form and matter, and taking the same measure of intent as was expressed in Apostolicae Curae, Rome should consider (say) the infusion of Old Catholic or PNCC lines into Anglicanism to result in valid, but illicit orders. There has, however, never been a definitive statement from Rome on this.
