Have you ever told someone a prophetic word that was timely?

Saint Paul said don’t dispise prophecy and pray that you may prophecy.
The criteria was that it is edifying exhorting And comfort. Not condemning.

I know the plans I have for you to give you an expected good end.

My charasmetic friends do this type of prayer.

How about you?

I wouldn’t, unless I was sure of it. And we can’t be…because true revelation, that is not to be questioned, but believed, ended with the last apostle.

I would be careful with these ''Charismatic’s. I went to such meetings early on (late’60’s to early '70.s) and found it rather shallow. It could be right for you, as it has grown. Just keep in mind that a prophecy, a true one, has to come true. I know that it can be comforting at times, but just be careful.

Some friends and colleagues have called me very insightful about developing situations or an understanding of the difficulties and motivations of others, but this stems from learning, observation, and intuition, not from some charismatic phenomenon or other extraordinary grace. Among my great problems with charismaticism, of which I have many, is that they minimize the role of ordinary grace and talent and intellect in favour of some extraordinary insight often brought on by a hyper-emotional state – and usually that insight is of dubious origin. Shamans of primitive societies do no differently. I prefer, and exhort everyone, to keep to the tried, tested, and true, understanding that there is a reason that the charismatic phenomena of apostolic times were not widespread thereafter.

Yes it is interesting to pray to the Holy spirit for a comfort word for some one. It makes praying a present time.

Not a word of prophecy, per se. I’d say just being open to the Holy Spirit, and perhaps our guardian angels.

D.H. & I had dinner with his family, then we all went to our respective homes. After about an hour, I could not shake a feeling that something was wrong at his sister’s. We prayed, we called, she said all was well. The feeling intensified to the point I couldn’t even go to bed. So, we drove to her house and camped out on an air mattress.

The next day, we found out that an across the street neighbor had been broken in on and repeatedly raped & beaten through the night, later dying from her injuries. Days later, the man arrested for this was a man that had stopped at my SILs house “looking for work” early morning on the day of the events.

To this day, I believe that lights on & 3 cars in the drive saved my SIL, and that listening to the Holy Spirit made that happen.

I believe that God will use us if we draw close to Him and make ourselves available.
