I wish I could have left, but it was the end of a weekend conference and I was driving everybody home. Plus it started at 11, and all the other Masses around had started long before the opening “hymn” if you could call it that. More like the opening mob.Concur. Illicit is illicit. However, each of us has to decide the point at which “illicit” becomes so disrespectful or sacrilegious that we must leave. A Mass such as Ljubim described above would certainly qualify as I see it. I would have been out of there as soon as I saw the bandstand next to the altar.
Most Traditionalists in my region of the country do not have the option of attending a Traditional Mass on a regular basis as many of us have to travel a six or eight hour round trip or more to do so. For us here in the land of OCP, it is often an illicit Mass or nothing.
I really don’t think it was illicit - just extremely inappropriate. Sure, irreverent, awful, shameful… but not illicit. As long as the consecration’s valid, I will stay, even if I’m scarred afterwards.
