I want to say, up front, that I have never had a down comforter to clean, so take this for what it is worth; but I have used Dryell to clean everything from a London Fog raincoat, to silk blouses, to a Harris tweed jacket, and have always been pleasd with the results.I wouldn’t wash it, down comforters are so expensive, and if it ruins, then you’ll need to replace it.
But, I wonder how come some are washable, and some aren’t. My DS has one that washes nicely, but mine is dry clean only
There is that product called “Dryell” I think, where you could dry clean in your dryer. Maybe that would work
If you had a seriously soiled item (comforter or no), I suspect that you would be happier having it professionally cleaned. But for normal cleaning/freshening, Dryell would be my choice.
If you decide to go that route, you should be aware that the comforter is NOT going to fit into the little bag thay sell with the product. But I gave up on the bags long ago anyway; just tossing the dry-clean only stuff in the dryer, loose, with the cleaning sheet works fine.
