Today is the feasts of Sts. Peter and Paul. Peter’s Pence is traditional today.

Some parishes do not take a separate collection for Peter’s Pence but just give a percent of the single collection from last Sunday.

Have you given explicitly to Peter’s Pence?

The Vatican’s accepts on-line donations with a credit card.

Our parish had a second collection specified for Peter’s Pence.

I didn’t know that Peter’s Pence was tied to the Solemnity we celebrated yesterday, but it makes sense. I donated through our local parish months ago. It was a second collection. Peace to all. 🙂

All the parishes I have belonged to have had special (2nd) collections for Peter Pence. I usually give.

I don’t give money to Peter’s Pence because they combine it with a collection for money to Catholic University. And I do not want any of my money going to that institution.

I have sent money directly to the Vatican. A personal check works fine.

:o I’m feeling almost like I’m in a maze, trying to figure out what is orthodox and what isn’t. I ran into this just trying to figure out which Catholic magazines to purchase. I learned very quickly that just because it’s got “Catholic” in the name doesn’t mean that it is faithful to the Magesterium - talk about a confusion of “noise.”

So, if you have time, can you tell me, what is Catholic University? And why is it a bad thing to support?

And if this is a question of orthodoxy, how could I make a donation to the Vatican that doesn’t end up in this “community pot” that supports causes which aren’t faithful to the Magesterium?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Catholic University of America is located in Washington, D.C.

They had a theology professor on their staff named Charles Curran. Charles Curran publicly taught things that were the opposite of some of the teachings of the Catholic Church. Yet, Catholic University refused for many years to fire him.
