Have you had an Angelic experience?

This is arguable, of course but in my humble opinion the true atheists are not the ones who argue - the militant ones. As long as they are arguing, they are candidates for eventual conversion.

Rather, the true atheists are the ones who have moved beyond arguments to a vast, total indifference. As someone once said, "the opposite to love is not hate. The opposite to love is indifference. It is a vast and total indifference to anything spiritual and/or religious which is truly demonic. As Christians we must witness for Christ and His Church to them, but they are badly lin need of our prayers.

Blessings,
Irl

I’ve decided to post my encounter with an angel:

It happened when I was about 22 or 23 years old, I was going through an extremely tough time in my life, I mean really bad, anyways, it got to the point where I was incapable of crying, I just felt numb. I had just finished school for the day, so I was ready to go home, as I waited in the metro, I noticed I was missing a barrette in my hair (one I liked). Anyways, the subway train came as I was looking for my clip, when the doors opened I noticed this man across from me as I entered. He casually asked me what I was looking for and I told him. This man looked homeless by the look of his clothes, he was also old and bald. I sat down still looking for my clip thinking maybe it got attached to my scarf, the next thing I knew I saw this man approach me, now I’m not the type to get easily frightend but I most certainly would be worried if a strange man was moving towards me as he was, but I wasn’t. He stopped right next to me and began to look for my clip, I don’t understand how I let him touch me (under normal circumstances I would have screamed or hit the perv), in fact, I even accomodated him by moving my head this way and that a way while he searched. The next thing I knew he was laying his hands on the back of my head (kind of cupping it) and I felt like this heaviness was being pulled out from me through his hands. Finally He took his hands off my head and moved away, not to sit down but to get off the train, I don’t know why but I got up as well (even though it wasn’t my stop) and the two of us just stood staring at each other, and I remember looking into his eyes and thinking “you’re so beautiful” “you’re so beautiful” but it wasn’t because of some exterior quality that I said this, I can’t explain except that what I saw in his eyes was something I could only see with my heart, I was in the presence of pure love. I felt it through the very depth of me that this man was too holy to be a mere human. Nevertheless, this lasted (staring at him) until we reached the following stop, and then he got off. I continued to stand there until I could no longer see him, and then I sat down at my seat and began to cry, I mean crying like I had not done so in awhile, and the numbness dissipated, and I knew that he was an angel.

I was so blessed that evening I cried even more but these were tears of gratitude and love for my angel, and the gift God had given me. I have never forgotten this experience and it still makes me cry thinking about it. If Heaven is like what I felt in that angel’s presence it is the most beautiful feeling in the world. God bless.

Don’t know where this will go but here it is…

In 1990 my dear cousin Tina had called me and she said she was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer.

She spent the next 3 years of her life in Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital in NYC leaving 3 little kids behind. A girl of 6 and 2 twin boys of 3.

Anyway, in July of 1993 she died.

2 or 3 years after her death, I had this vision that for me it was so real but not frightening but comforting.

At first, there was this feeling as if someone of something was resting on my shoulder as if you were to rest your hand on someone’s shoulder.

Then, as I was looking around especially to see nothing was on me…(edit to add that when I looked back there was nothing on my shoulder and then this …what I call a spirit with a white flowy gown, long flowing brown hair down her back approached me from a distance coming closer and closer.

This spirit stopped about 2-3 feet in front on my face and held up a white piece of paper of what it appeared to be like a business card.

The card was white and the letters were in black.

On the card in stated 4 words. (I can still see the card in my vision and memory)
Code:
      Ascension
         of our
         Lord
The spirit was about 3 feet holding this up, stopped, pushed the card closer to me, to my face and then vanished.

I was not going through any turmoil in my life nor did I have any questions about faith when this incident happened.

That is all I remember and it has not happened again.

By the way, I was an atheist like you at the time. I became a Christian about four years later (which is when I met the above mentioned pastor), and have had quite a number of “spiritual” experiences since. But the episode with my father, which started with an apology on his part, followed by a rather acrimonious dicussoon and the final terrifying scream, is unique in my experience. I haven’t had any others like it. In his own words on the night, “I’ve been an absolute mongrel to you!”

So he had something to answer for.

How’s your check list going? Mine’s not real good either. I was an atheist, and I was dead wrong.

But do you know what my reaction to the above episode was at the time? “Nah… that couldn’t have happened. I don’t believe in things like that!” Now you’re not likely to have the same experience, but if you did, I’ll bet you’d do your best to deny it, because it wouldn’t fit in with your preconceived beliefs.

As Christ said, “A man is as he thinks.”
Thats interesting, is that what made you convert? If not, what?

I know at times I’ve overcome temptations just by the powerful memory of the event, and thats the main reason I’m thinking of priesthood. 🙂

Thats a truly amazing experience, thank you.

I’ll try to keep this short, but I think I received a command from Mary last night, and the command was the most ridiculous thing I could fathom her insisting I do…but yeah…

So I’m praying my rosary. I’m mad at my brother because he’s a cheapskate, and I’m always pulling his financial weight. (we share an apt.) WELL, his dog has been eating MY dogs food for 2 months, hasnt pitched in. I DONT have any fish. HE has 2 aquariums.
I’m praying my rosary & I can see the fish kinda pecking at each other in the tank. THere’s no food for the fish. I’m praying my rosary & beginning to stew over how irresponsible my brother is, and out of nowhere I am meditating on the words FEED THE FISH! SO, I’m still praying my rosary as I’m getting up, grabbing the keys & driving to wally-world, grabbing the fish food & I finish up the rosary as I am getting back in my sweats & getting BACK to being ready for bed. Feed the fish felt like a command, that’s why I got up & got in my car & drove 8 miles to wally world because it’s the only thing open 24-7. I have often prayed for some sort of sign or divine enlightenment & here’s my heavenly mother sounding like any other mother & planting this bug in my head that’s telling me FEED THE FISH!. Yeah. That was last night. Weird, yes, no apparitions, no voices, just a strong random impulse that sounds like something my mother would do…

Thats interesting, is that what made you convert? If not, what?

I know at times I’ve overcome temptations just by the powerful memory of the event, and thats the main reason I’m thinking of priesthood. 🙂
No, it didn’t make me convert. I didn’t become a Christian till nearly 4 years later. My father died in January 1979, and I didn’t convert till around late 1982. The years from 1977 to 1982 were the worst in my life, although they started innocently enough. By mid 1982 I was broke, unemployed, going through a divorce and feeling very depressed. At the same time I seemed to be getting this persistent spiritual sense I should go to the local Presbyterian Church. The reason for that is that I was baptised Presbyterian, and had some experience of Sunday School years before.

Eventually I went and that’s where I met the pastor in question. While he was discouraging (he later admitted he had a tendency to discourage people, although he didn’t mean to), I learned a great deal from him and his family. He’s still the wisest and most prophetic man I’ve met.

It was a similar spiritual push that got me to move from Protestant to Catholic. In both cases I think God was behind it. The old pastor once said to me, “I think you’ll become Catholic. You might be happier there.” When I argued that my father had in a sense taken me out of the Catholic Church (he was Catholic himself, but rebelled, and had me baptised Presbyterian), he replied, “I think the Lord might want you to go back there.”

He said a bit more which I’ll keep to myself.

So, no, the incident with my father was not the critical factor. But I know that judgment exists. You can’t sit up in bed and watch your own father screaming his head off in sheer terror no more than six feet away, and not realise that.

The devil exists all right. For the sake of Yankee Doodle, that’s one of the reasons the human race always has problems. Take the 20th century. It opens with an arms race amongst colonial powers, then gravitates to the Great War. After millions of dead, there’s a brief hiatus in the roaring twenties, followed by the Great Depression, and the rise of Bolshevism. Then there’s World War II, the Cold War and the wars which went with. The Soviet Union collapses. But just as we think there’s peace on the horizon, almost immediately we have Gulf War I and the Balkans wars. They finish, there’s talk of a “new world order” and then we have 9/11, the resurgence of Islam, and Gulf War II.

There’s a malevolent intelligence at work. You’ll note for example that historical events originating hundreds of years in the past have given Islam the greater part of the world’s oil or ‘black gold’ today.

We think we’re in control. I beg to differ.:hmmm:

dude, this is pseudo nonsense
LOL you are such a by product of the square way of thinking. I would agree with you in that you are very confused… but totally correct 🙂 Pseudo means false by the way. I enjoy watching people like you spout off like they are some kind of super philosopher but yet are clueless about their own thoughts. You believe a spiritual experience is impossible simply because you were raised in thinking that way, so you have sompletely shut off your mind to any new information. LOL Pseudo nonsense. That literally means it’s not nonsense so you were actually correct and didn’t even know it. Funny how God works huh? I’m assuming that you didn’t even check out the research tab at www.heartmath.org? That’s not a question by the way. Scientist have actually hooked up a persons head up to a device that records their brainwaves. I hope you believe such a device exists because they are used in medicine everyday as a tool for locating electrical abnormalities in the brain. Well they had one person experience an emotion such as… love… and they recorded the frequencies coming from that individuals heart and recorded the information. At that exact same time they were recording another persons brain waves 12 ft away and found them to change as the frequencies generated from the other persons heart changed. The changes paralleled each other 🙂 So before you dismiss a new thought I would encourage that you investigate it for yourself before you take anyones word on it. After all… Who or whatever created you blessed you with your own personal intellect. Don’t sell it so cheap otherwise you will end up as a bitter byproduct of a broken educational system.

don’t quit your day job bro 🙂
I can’t help but wonder… Why are you taking such an interest in this thread? You haven’t yet contributed anything positive or anything at all for that matter. I see a lot of bitterness in your posts that suggest you are really searching for the truth, but God has let you down in so many ways that the thought of Him enriching the lives of others just repulses you, so you are trying to take away hope and joy from those whom He has enriched. Why have you made this your mission for this thread. You are obviously a very intelligent person, but your thoughts have been misconstrued by the mainstream version of religion that has done nothing but reveal those who practice it as hypocrites.
I know how annoying it is when people try to force their beliefs on you but that is going to happen everywhere you go because the majority of people get lost inside their own minds and they can’t dig their way out. Consequently, they find themselves submitting to a standardized view of the truth that although is true it is not fullfilling, so their hunger turns into desperation and they begin to steal life from those who have found it but have not yet been bound to it. If you were to devote your above average abundance of intellect to creating possitive “fruit” in the image of what you are passionate about, I believe that you could change peoples lives for the better. Yankee Doodle went to town riding on a ? We must all decide between good and evil everyday.

Oh, I dunno. It sounds typically female to me. Wait till you get married, mate. That’s when you’ll find out about the intense practicality of women, around the house anyway.

She was concerned about the fish. They were obviously hungry and needed food. As far as she was concerned, heavenly or otherwise, that was the first priority. Your bun fight with your brother took second place.

Reminds me of a story I heard in a sermon once. A kid came home and found his guinea pigs were missing. He went yelling up to Mum, letting the whole world know.

She replied, “I know. I gave them away. You weren’t looking after them”.

The kid was upset. “You gave away my guinea pigs!! How could you do that?? I can’t live without my guinea pigs!!!”

Then his mother said something he never forgot.

“Son”, she said, “I gave your guinea pigs away two weeks ago.”

don’t you guys have any new material? Let’s think about this rationally. You’re the one who believes in flying angels (who apparently come and visit you on occasion), talking snakes, guys who acts as a conduit for a god who divide oceans, turn rivers into blood, and astoundingly fit every type of animal on earth into a little ark, but I’m the guy searching for truth who has been let down by your mythological character?

OK

Dude, the standardized version of truth (as you term it) is religion (and in this country it’s almost always the Christian religion).
that although is true it is not fullfilling,
of course not … because how can anyone seriously believe this nonsense
so their hunger turns into desperation
yet if they would only take the plunge into reality … their stomachs would be full.

I do devote my intelligence to good things, but instead of X-box, in my little bit of free time I occasionally peer in on what theists are thinking (and I try to be a voice of reason in an otherwise deluded world).

Wait, your a guy or a girl? Cuz if your a girl that explains everything 😛
Just Kidding,
Well she is a mother, or she could be telling you something else through that. Feed the fish, take care of the fish. Maybe she wants you to hang on to your brother, if he’s that irresponsible with you watching over him, imagine what he’ll be like if you move out… to sum it up, screwed. Thats just my opinion… soooo 🤷

We don’t only turn to religion because it is an escape, but because it makes sense. I pray that you can see that. If not… then start. With a grain of faith you can move a mountain, why does it seem so crazy?

Has anyone heard a thing by Father Calloway? He’s a Catholic Philosopher, and a great speaker, look into it 😉

Have you ever moved a mountain? Didn’t think so

Rhetoric and platitudes are just rhetoric and platitudes.

Have you had an Angelic experience?
I’m not sure in what particular context the OP was trying to convey in this question.
Was the OP looking for someone to relate a grandiose experience?

Well if you call my experience anything remotely short of spectacular I really don’t have much of a sensationalized brief experience to relate other than the fact I have frequently had recollections of moments in my late adolescence that brought memories of melancholy throughout my life. Suffice to say without boring anyone with the details I do have fond recollections throughout my childhood of my Guardian Angel being present at my side often giving me hope, courage, and love. I have never visually seen any of Gods angels. But nobody could not convince me that I have strongly sensed my Guardian angel at my side.

I have known some Catholics who couldn’t even give witness to say that they have ever felt their Guardian Angel in their presence.

I don’t know; maybe I’m one of those lucky few.
But at least I don’t take this inner Faith for granted knowing personally that yes, I can have conversations with my guardian angel and sense inside my angel talking back to me, coaching me with inspiration and reminding my conscious of God’s moral laws and when to pray often…It’s easy for people of little faith to rationalize this kind of personal relationship with a supernatural being who reflects Gods presence in my soul.

Was it not Jesus who said that many in this world would actually see Angels and not even realize it.

of course not … because how can anyone seriously believe this nonsense.
Because it leaves an indelible mark on the person who experiences it. Anyways, there are tons of stories on the Internet about angel encounters, have you ever read any? Here’s one story:

A Miracle for Daddy by: DeNeen Grant Meyers

In 1998 my father suffered an aortal aneurysm and was given a 10% chance of survival. While in the hospital, I went to the chapel to pray. In the chapel I spoke to God saying, “Lord, I was always taught that prayer is a dialogue, not a mononlogue, so I’m asking you to let me know whether or not my father is going to live or die, and I will not leave this chapel until I hear from you.” I sat in a chair, crossed my arms, and waited for His reply. About 15 minutes later, a man and a woman entered the chapel. The man asked if they could pray with me. Of course, I said, “Yes, please.” He started praying, and then abruptly stopped. He looked at me and said, "The Lord said that your father will live. All He askes is that you do three things. First, anoint your father with this oil I’m giving you. Second, pray for each person in CCU. Third, fast and pray for three days. At that, I fell to my knees and cried, thanking them and thanking the Lord. I did exactly what was told to me, and miraculously, day by day, my father got better and better. When he was moved to a regular room, his doctor told him that his recovery was nothing but a miracle because no one survives such a massive aneurysm, especially without surgery. I KNOW the two people who prayed with me that evening were angels sent by God. Over ten years later, my father is still here and has never had any further problems with his heart. Never doubt the Lord your God. He is worthy to be praised!! Thank you again, Lord!

I wonder how shocked you’ll be when you realize we were right all along, and you were the deluded one. 😉

I had a very powerful experience recently. An ecstasy.

I prefer to imagine that it may have been the Holy Spirit.
