Have you had the same experiences as me internally?

I remember going to confession after many years and be staggered by the difference in my internal life. Following confession, I felt a profound peace in the core of my being that went beyond a mere cessation of anxiety/guilt to a feeling of absolute tranquility of mind and spirit. It was the kind of peace “that surpasses understanding” as St. Paul states it. Additionally, I would feel God’s presence so intensely that it was like a physical euphoria in the center of my being especially at night when I’d say my evening prayers and go to bed. It was like I was being lovingly embraced by my heavenly Father. It’s really hard for me to describe it in words. It was like I was experiencing intense spiritual prosperity that was a physical sensation as well.(I’m sorry for the poor explaination. I’m doing my best to describe something spiritual in human language.) I was wondering whether any of you have had a similiar experience?

i have. it wouldnt last as long. but random bouts of joy are proof that
  1. your doing something right
  2. God is just showing you he loves you
I have felt both. and they feel GREAT! 👍

I’ve had a similar experience once, years ago, but it was so profound it’s never left me. It also involved private revelation and came after praying for another person rather than having to do with confession. But I find myself reluctant to talk about it except with like-minded Christians or with non-Christians who I’m attempting to explain the faith to-those two groups are often most open to it.

pm me your experience. i love storys 🙂

I am so glad you shared your experience with us.

I think you described it well. I converted to Catholicism two years ago and have struggled with confession. I remember watching people leaving the confessional looking lighter and happier and wondered when I would have that experience. Finally, this past friday, I had a very profound experience with similarities to what you described after I gave my confession. I can honestly say that this experience showed me the truth and grace that is there for us in confession - that it is a gift to us to bring us closer to God.

Up until this past Friday, I often looked at the act of confession as an obstacle to tackle - and now I see it as a unifying gift and pathway to God.

Grace. What you felt was grace. Unmerited, undeserved, amazing grace! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

*“I wish that my heart could beat, that I could live and breathe only for Jesus, I wish that my tongue could utter no other name than that of Jesus; that my eye could see only Jesus; that my pen could write only about Jesus, and that my thoughts could soar to nothing but Jesus. I have often wondered where on earth there might be something on which I could center my love. But neither on earth nor in heaven do I find any such thing but only my beloved Jesus… I am the fruit of your passion, Jesus, born of your wounds. O Jesus, seek me in love; I no longer possess anything; you have stolen my heart…” *- St. Gemma Galgani
