No. It may be, but its not something I focus on. Its kind of like asking, “Have you noticed there are less people with fair skin, blond hair, and blue eyes on programs?”

I’m not sure what your point is.

The old white male dinosaurs are dying off?

How surprising.

Yes, and I think its great… Broadcasters should be representative of and somewhat proportionate to the population they report upon.

In one of my Bible studies classes, the topic was such that one of the attendees asked one of the leaders what it was like to grow up in the south years ago and be black. That was absolutely the first time I ever noticed the lady was black.

So, no, I hadn’t noticed % black, or % albino, or % Asian or whatever. I guess that makes me odd or something.

People are people no matter the “color” of their skin. I describe my “color” as Peaches and Cream! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It is a moot point since I get my news from the radio, and would not care if I did watch TV news.

Don’t be racist.
How’s that racist? Almost all newscasters for 50+ years with the exception of a handful of 60 minutes folk (Leslie Stal, Ed Bradly) and a few other big names (Barbra Walters, Al Roker) were white men 40+. People of color and women had little to no hope of rising above local news. The fact that they are dying off and are representative of an entirely different time in journalism isn’t racist. It’s reality.

I don’t watch the news so I wouldn’t now. But I don’t have a problem with it. The news doesn’t change because of someone’s skin color. Just make sure they can do the job. If not, don’t hire them.

Stephie, that’s what makes you odd?
You are odd?
I thought you were super-sane!!

There is a more representative range of news readers on our news channels also.
Good to see.

In today’s society, being even remotely close to being sane makes you odd.

Thanks for the compliment.

Blessings,
Stephie

You said that white men dying off is a good thing. Both racist and sexist.

Isn’t Al Roker African American?

Which would be why he is in the exception category.

I said nothing of the sort. I said that it’s not surprising that ancient white men are dying off. That’s a human reality.

Sixty-plus is far from ancient. Ninety-plus, maybe elderly.
For tv it is…other than news broadcasts and the occasional sitcom poking fun at those over the hill most tv is by those sub 40.

And many of those newscasters reported well into their 70’s. Much longer than traditional retirement age.

We are a diverse country and diverse people are entering broadcast journalism.
Geraldo Rivera certainly has made a name for himself as a Hispanic broadcast journalist and Oprah followed.
What we see on news programs is representative of our diverse society I think.
