Have you read the Bible all the way through?

This is true. But, you can quote St. Ignatius of Antioch all day, but some people just won’t listen. Such as life.
Yes, especially Fundamentalist. They have to rationalize everything to fit in their reasoning, even though it just doesn’t work.

I’ve found that “former” Catholics turned fundamentalist are often the worst (and I do not mean this for every single one, this is just personal experience, no offense to non-Catholics that may be reading this)

Yes, they are. Often they were not very informed in the faith in the first place.

The one I was dealing with actually knows better. I don’t know how you can spend most of your years out of the Church, say you’re going to comeback, and become vehemently anti-Catholic in the process. Especially since you confessed the truth of the Church. Such as life though. She has my prayers on a daily basis.

She may know some stuff, but if she really knew she would come back to the faith.

I don’t fault her entirely. She wasn’t really raised Catholic (she was Baptized, and that was pretty much it) but she is much the reason I am. And that’s something we do need to remember when dealing with “former” Catholics, is they may legitimately be ignorant of what the Church teaches. I know some folks leave the Church for purely emotional reasons over intellectual ones. It is true that sometimes Catholics can be quite unwelcoming. That’s something I admit we should work on. Still, I don’t find that a convincing reason, but I am not them. Anyway, back to the OP, I think bringing Catholics back to the Church (well God does it through us), then knowing the Bible, not just bits and pieces, would be very helpful in situations such as these.

Indeed. The Holy Spirit will use whatever means he needs to get people to come to the Church.
