Have you received an order from Jesus?

No, and I don’t know anyone who has received any direct order.
 
Of course. You shall love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your mind, and all your soul. And love your neighbor as yourself.
 
I always tell myself “I must do as my Lord Commands” But no, he has never appeared to me personally and given me a order in a private revelation. I do not doubt he has to some people, but I would most likely not believe anyone who says God gave them a order personally. Too many people hear their own voice in their head and take it for God talking to them. Most the time it seems harmless enough, but there are waco’s out there too.
 
My first thought is, if Jesus were to talking directly to me, it would probably mean I need to be on medication. My next thought would be, real or demonic trick?

Yea, the bible and the 10 commandments establish His expectations clearly.

I will say that I “hear” God speaking to me in my thoughts and I know it wasn’t “me”. I am grateful for those moments. If you have a dialogue with God throughout the day than I think you open yourself to hearing him.
 
I have. It was in a dream. But it was an order from the Blessed Virgin Mary. I don’t remember if it was an order by Jesus Christ, or if it was just from the Blessed Virgin Mary. But she appeared to me, and she had clouds around her, and a stone wall behind her. The clouds were thick that I was only able to see her head. She directly ordered me to “Pray the rosary”. Several years later, I noticed that I wasn’t praying the rosary anymore. She reappeared to me in a dream, but this time, I was in a labyrinth with blue walls and intricate gold borders. I finally made it from the outside to the central room, and I saw a statue of her (It looked like Our Lady of Manaoag) and she was holding a rosary in her hand. That’s how I knew it wasn’t the devil or my insanity speaking to me.
 
No direct communication or orders. Pray for guidance, and let Him guide.

I’m not asking for advice in this thread, and we all know about the Ten Commandments by now. I’m speaking of Private Revelation.

Never mind. Apparently, this forum prohibits discussion of “unapproved” private revelation.
 
I’ve heard a voice that purports to be Jesus but I don’t think it was actually Jesus. Something just didn’t feel quite right about it…

I do sincerely believe though that God once asked me whether I would love and look after someone on His behalf (I of course said yes - who am I to refuse the Lord?! :eek: ) 🙂

You are correct.
 
Several times I have “heard” Him speak in my mind asking (not ordering) me to do something or tell someone something. My spiritual director told me to step out in faith but I find it very hard to do. Although when I have done so I was glad I did. I know someone else this happened to once and she forced herself to tell a stranger what Our Lord told her and it was exactly what the person needed to here to comfort her in a crisis with a sick child and my friend didn’t even know anything about the person. Sometimes people involved with a healing ministry are given a ‘word of knowledge’ for or about someone. I was good friends with one of those people. This probably isn’t as rare as one would think in that context.

Recently it was the feast of St. Joan of Arc. She followed what Our Lord and the saints told her to do but it wasn’t easy. She was shot with an arrow in battle and was captured by the English later, was imprisoned by them and burned at the stake on a made up charge of heresy.

If someone starts hearing Jesus telling him to do things he should tell his spiritual director or confessor for sure. Since voices can come from God, an evil spirit, or one’s own imagination.

I think the better question to ask yourself would be…how do I really know it was Jesus?

And the answer would be along the lines…
  • is it in accord with the Commandments
  • is it in accord with the Gospels
  • does it involve love of God and neighbour
  • does it involve virtue on my part, especially humility rather than glory seeking
  • what does my Confessor have to say…
 
No and frankly I think its a red flag when people say they have. I almost never believe in any claims of apparitions or locutions ( if that is what you meant by your title). God simply doesnt work like that. Locutions are just your own thoughts but if you are suggestable enough they can seem like the thoughts are being " inserted" into your mind. People who claim to have locutions usually just suffer from mood disorders. Its a result of a fragmented psyche.
Jesus doesn’t work like that. He gave us everything we need to know in the bible and in church teaching. Hes not going to waste his time telling you wether you should put ketchup or mustard on your hotdog. People who claim to have apparitions or locutions are just usually severely depressed people who have given up on life and now try to find some meaning by seeking out spiritual experiences.
 
A couple of times recently when I was in distress he ‘said’ to me, “Trust in Me.”
Whether that was my own thought or Him it was true and good advice!🙂

Sounds a bit like locutions to me. No one else around him heard the voice he claimed he heard, either. 🤷
