Fr. Barron’s book “Catholicism” was released more than a year ago, as was the 10 part video series of the same title.

I want to ask this question primarily of all the non-Catholics on this forum: have you read the book or viewed parts or all of the video series, and what is your impression? Have you read reviews or discussed this material in your churches, mosques, temples?

If you are Catholic, what is your impression, and which parts in particular stand out in your mind?

I LOOOOOVVEEEEEE THIS SERIES!!! Fr. Barron is such a great explainer! (that’s a word, right?) I can’t wait for the next one on the new evangelization! The episode on Mary was particularly good, i thought.

I was a non-Catholic when I first viewed the Catholicism series. I purchased it as I was looking into the Catholic faith having left my ELCA Lutheran church looking for where God wanted me. It was part of the journey I took into the Catholic Church a year and 3 months ago:) My husband (still not Catholic) really enjoys this series and appreciates the wisdom of Fr. Barron.

(P.S. Please know that ADORATION was I believe the catalyst in bringing me to study and be convinced that I MUST be Catholic - Praise be to God!

Father Barron’s Catholicism is an awesome series. It is beautifully done and highly captivating. Every episode caught my attention and never let go. But the one that stood out for me was the episode where he broke down every part of the mass from beginning to end. I love watching it to this day. God bless Father Barron for the work he does. Father Barron’s Word On Fire website (www.wordonfire.org) is amazing too.

We viewed the DVD series as a small break between Bible study sessions for our Adult Faith Formation classes. I think there was something for everyone in there. Seeing the video with a group of very devout and faithful Catholics such as are in my parish really expanded my view of their faith lives. We were able to share with each other our experiences and knowledge about different aspects of Catholicism. For me, I think the best part was the imagery, sacred art and architecture, the diverse people and locales. A slightly disappointing element was the total omission of the Eastern Churches. I would have liked to see at least a little Byzantine in the liturgy segment. But other than that, I would watch it again and again! Father Barron is a refreshingly frank and knowledgeable guide for this kind of thing. I have started watching his Word on Fire segments on YouTube and enjoying his style very much.

I read the book and watched the series and loved both. I was raised Protestsnt and viewed this as part of my discernment. It is excellent!

I love Fr Barron’s style and his series and YouTube were instrumental in my conversion.

The segment on the Nature of God and the Eucharist stood out most to me .

Highly recommend it!

Our parish held classes on the video series with the workbook and then I bought the book as well. Well worth it and we did our best to never miss a class.

EWTN runs the series and we have since recorded it on our DVR.

Visually stunning and tremendously informative and deeply inspirational.

It would be hard to pick a single part that was most touching though there is a whole host of great quotes including the awesome poem The May Magnificat.

Anyone who is interested in our most holy faith will benefit from it. 👍

I was able to watch it through my library. Wonderful series. I think my favorite episode was Word Made Flesh, True Bread From Heaven about the liturgy and the Eucharist. But it was all great. I am going to buy it because it is something that you can watch over and over.
