I could really use your prayers today. I was just dealt another setback this morning and have had a lot of them lately. I realize my problems are very trivial and small compared to others but I need a place to vent.

My husband and I are trying to save up for a down payment on a house but we are really struggling with it. Now in most places this isn’t a big problem for two people who have regular jobs. But in the UK it’s pretty difficult to do (even with the new government scheme, my husband wants us to have enough by next year or so, the clock will be ticking on that), what’s more my husband and I have the goal of being in a bigger place so we can start a family, and moving to a larger house will be very expensive for us and he insists it’s a better investment to get a house.

But I’m turning 38 in August and feel that we are running out of time. My husband doesn’t want to look for a new job (and I just got turned down on one this morning) unless I have a better job because he feels it would be bad for both of us if he had a new job and it didn’t work out. It will be very difficult to get to where we want to be and have a family on his current income. I now have to put my search on hold for a few months because I have to make my permanent leave to remain visa application after Easter. I also do freelance art on the side but this year has been very dry.

I hate seeing my husband get depressed when the news always isn’t great, he gets really down sometimes that we aren’t getting anywhere. Sometimes I can deal with it and take whatever comes but I don’t like seeing him this way.

It hurts and burns me up a great deal when I see someone else I know who is an atheist and mocks Jesus make a post on facebook of the keys she’s gotten to her new house with her fiance. I prayed to God the other day that I needed to know that He was listening, and THAT apparently was the answer to the prayer I got?

I’m a little wary about getting into anything personal but on top of that, I deal with anxiety that at times constantly throws wrenches in my life and at times it can be a cross for our marriage and I JUST want to do what is right and what God wills. I also have to see the doctor on Friday about a health matter but I’ll just leave it at that.

I KNOW it is not right to treat God like a vending machine. I know that I have the problem of looking at what others have and feeling resentment about it and am trying to learn to accept a simpler life and detachment from wordly goods.

But I’m just having a very hard time with it today. I’ve been storming heaven with novenas left and right and as much as I try to count my blessings and live every day to the fullest, I hate having to report to my husband another setback and kick to the face. And honestly, sometimes I feel like I’m being completely ignored by God and the saints and everyone I pray to and that my prayers really don’t matter because I’m too small minded and selfish to listen to.

So, all I can say is that I’m just having a hard time today and could use your prayers. Sometimes I just want to cry uncle and just give up and move on, I really want to know what God’s plans are for us and today I am just about ready to give up but I know my husband wont want to so I’ll have to keep wrestling with it, even though this has been going on for some time now and I’m getting increasingly tired of it with time. Maybe we aren’t cut out for the “dream”. I think I just need to know once in a while that God is even listening. Today it sure doesn’t feel like it.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

I would like to apologize for being so rant-y. I’m beginning to have a theory as to what is going on and perhaps why God is not answering my prayers. I trust that God will have something greater than what we believe is best for us.

Please continue to pray especially for my husband, though. 🙂

Praying for you!

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

s the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen

I will keep you and your husband in my prayers 🙂 I get discouraged too. I think it is our human-ness that makes us this way. Just remember that He loves you and is working in your lives for the greater good. Many blessings today!

Praying that God will give you and your husband patience …

Hail Mary, full of grace.
Our Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Praying for you! Have faith, God will not abandon you in your hour of need.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

👍🙂

I just said a prayer for you and your husband. You and he will be included in my Rosaries. God bless you.

I know the perfect saint for you- St. Joseph. 🙂

St. Teresa of Avila wrote, *“I took for my advocate and lord the glorious Saint Joseph and commended myself earnestly to him; and I found that this my father and lord delivered me both from this trouble [a temporary paralysis] and also from other and greater troubles concerning my honor and the loss of my soul, and that he gave me greater blessings than I could ask of him. I do not remember even now that I have ever asked anything of him which he has failed to grant. I am astonished at the great favors which God has bestowed on me through this blessed saint, and at the perils from which He has freed me, both in body and in soul. To other saints the Lord seems to have given grace to succor us in some of our necessities but of this glorious saint my experience is that he succors us in them all and that the Lord wishes to teach us that as He was Himself subject to him on earth (for, being His guardian and being called His father, he could command Him) just so in Heaven He still does all that he asks. This has also been the experience of other persons whom I have advised to commend themselves to him; and even to-day there are many who have great devotion to him through having newly experienced this truth.”

“I only beg, for the love of God, that anyone who does not believe me will put what I say to the test, and he will see by experience what great advantages come from his commending himself to this glorious patriarch and having devotion to him. Those who practice prayer should have a special affection for him always. I do not know how anyone can think of the Queen of the Angels, during the time that she suffered so much with the Child Jesus, without giving thanks to Saint Joseph for the way he helped them. If anyone cannot find a master to teach him how to pray, let him take this glorious saint as his master and he will not go astray.”*

I have quoted St. Teresa’s devotion to St. Joseph on a number of other threads, but I do so when I have an inner gut feeling that the OP should turn to him for help. I can highly recommend him not only because of St. Teresa’s advice, but because I recently put it into practice and he graciously interceded for my request. Here is a prayer to him:

Prayer to St. Joseph to Obtain a Special Favor
O blessed Saint Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of God, we pray and beseech thee to offer to God the Father His divine Son, bathed in blood on the Cross for sinners, and through the thrice-holy Name of Jesus, obtain for us from the Eternal Father the favor we implore. Please help Ash_Wednesday and her husband find the right home and style of living that God wishes for them, so that they may praise Him on earth and thank you in heaven for interceding with this request.
Appease the Divine anger so justly inflamed by our crimes, beg of Jesus mercy for thy children. Amid the splendors of eternity, forget not the sorrows of those who suffer, those who pray, those who weep; stay the Almighty arm which smites us, that by thy prayers and those of thy most holy spouse, the Heart of Jesus may be moved to pity and to pardon. Amen. St. Joseph, pray for us.

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that exist in my life.
You know very well how desperate I am, my pain and how I am bound by these knots.
Mary, Mother to whom God entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life.
No one, not even the evil one himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your hands there is no knot that cannot be undone.
Powerful Mother, by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Liberator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot…I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all, You are my hope.
O my Lady, you are the only consolation God gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of my destitution and with Christ the freedom from my chains.
Hear my plea.
Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge!

I pray for your intentions.

Praying that the Lord may mercifully strengthen you and your husband. Also praying that the Lord may guide you and grant you all necessary graces.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen
