Having a hard time with forgiveness

I gave into weakness and committed a mortal sin. I have an appointment for confession today, but I’m having a hard time thinking that God will forgive me, I don’t want to despair, please pray for me.😦

Have you forgotten that Jesus loves each one of us ‘warts and all’. The Priest through the power of Almighty God will forgive you absolutely so don’t be afraid to tell him everything that is worrying you. I believe that Our Loving Lord who knows the innermost secrets of every heart will always forgive those who are sincerely sorry. He will never turn away from us.

Prayer for the Forgiveness of Sins

O Lord, Jesus Christ, Redeemer and Saviour, forgive my sins, just as You forgave Peter’s denial and those who crucified You. Count not my transgressions, but, rather, my tears of repentance. God’s love is stronger than the worst possible sin you can commit! Just ask for forgiveness and there is no reason for despair. You must confess, do penance, and resolve to do better in the future, but God’s grace will help you.

Just go and confess…the devil wants you to think you can’t be forgiven, liar that he is, but you know different. He loves you and desires to show mercy so much it would be hard for us to comprehend. That is why He went to the cross. He came for the sick, not the healthy. He knows our needs and our weaknesses. God is Love and able to do abundantly more than we can think or ask- He is Superabundant in love and mercy. I will say a prayer for you.

Always thought forgiving yourself is ten times harder than forgiving others.
 
I strongly urge you to acquaint yourself with the Divine Mercy devotion. There is no sin that He will not forgive if asked with a contrite heart. Like another poster mentioned, Satan will try to convince you that the Lord will not forgive you, but he is the prince of liars. From St. Faustina’s Diary:
1182 (50) + Today the Lord said to me “My daughter, My pleasure and delight, nothing will stop me from granting you graces. Your misery does not hinder my mercy. My daughter, write that the greater the misery of a soul, the greater its right to My mercy; [urge] all souls to trust in the unfathomable abyss of My mercy, because I want to save them all. On the cross, the fountain of My mercy was opened wide by the lance for all souls–no one have I excluded!”
