Hi everyone. I’m really not doing well. I need advice. I’m not sure if this is the category to place this but it is regarding astrology. I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me. I don’t know what to do.

One day about 13-14 years ago when I wasn’t a practicing Catholic and ignorant my mother innocently thought it would be fun to go see an astrologer and innocently I went along.

I did not know the astrologer. The astrologer did not know me. The only thing she asked me was my date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth.

At the time she made some wild, but very specific predictions. She made predictions that were nothing like the really vague ones you might see at the back of some tv guide or in a daily newspaper.

Unfortunately, slowly but surely these very specific predictions happened. At first I just thought they were coincidences and lucky guesses. At times I deliberately chose a path that was completely different to one she predicted - just to ensure these predictions would not come true. But they always did.

I went to priests to help me with this. Many of them didn’t know what to do or what to tell me because it was undeniable they were specific predictions and accurate predictions. Some just cut me off before I had the chance to explain myself and just said, “Don’t listen to it”, which isn’t really helpful in coming to terms with what was happening. They just didn’t want to acknowledge the situation and wanted me to embrace denial.

To be clear I hate astrology. It is satanic. I don’t advocate it, but I do acknowledge that because angelic intelligence is far superior to human intelligence angelic beings (albeit fallen angels) can make much more accurate predictions than any of us could ever hope to make. Denying that is just not helpful.

I have had the exorcism prayer prayed over me. I have visited devout Catholics with the gift of prayer.

Specific things she predicted are still coming true and they are really picking up the pace.

I don’t believe I am experiencing demonic oppression. I have had that before and this is not it. I just have the knowledge of everything the astrologer said. That is all - just the knowledge.

Close to this point in time, relative to the rest of my life, the astrologer just stopped talking and only said a few more things. The things were almost all negative. They were things you would not want to happen in your life and this worries me because like everything that was predicted, some of them are completely out of my control and some of them are based on free will, but based on the past, the free will predictions are things that I choose because I feel at the time that they are genuinely the smartest choices to make.

I can’t even do justice to how anxious and depressed I am about having this knowledge and the experience now of the specific predictions always coming true. I don’t really know what to do.

I understand if no one has any suggestions other than pray the rosary and take the Eucharist. I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’m trapped and theres no way out.

Stop practicing astrology, stop interacting with this woman, and see your priest immediately.
All will be well, but you have to extricate yourself from this mess. The priest will counsel you and absolve you if any sin has occurred.

That you REALISE what is the problem is wonderful.
God is watching you.

I have no reason to believe prophecy, whether astrology or otherwise based is Satanic or not. It just depends what religion they belong to and whether or not they are good people. Saints can prophecy.

We are all trapped one eay or the other, your experince is nothing special really. Its not what has happened to you that matters so much as what you do with what you know.
Whether or not your fate happens is never certain u til it happens.
Try facing the possibility while not seeking it, you seem to spend your energy running away from it rather than “embracing” whatever God wants to happen. St Paul knew his destiny too

I don’t practice astrology.

I saw the astrologer once for half fifteen minutes 13-14 years ago before I was a practicing Catholic, when I didn’t even realise astrology was bad.

Unfortunately the priests I have seen don’t know how to counsel me regarding this, they don’t know what to say, which is one of the reasons I am so stressed out.

Go to confession frequently and encourage anyone that went with you or made the recommendation to also do the same. In Church, pray for those who visit psychics to repent with the aid of their Guardian Angels. Request your penance to include 5 Our Fathers specifically for those in Purgatory. Next, light a candle in Church for yourself and put more funds in the collection plate than you paid this evil fraudster. Last, pray the Saint Michael prayer and ensure you are at the next mass which includes asking, “do you reject Satan and all his works?” To which you will say, (if your answer is this), “I do.” Meditate on Jesus’ forgiving of the prostitute, especially the part when he said, “go and sin no more.”

God Bless

Thank you for your kind words.

I know people’s destiny is never certain until it happens, but just imagine in basketball someone shoots from literally a mile away 30 times in a row and gets it in all 30 times. Each time you would be shocked, but the more it accumulates the more shocking it is. In the same conditions, the likelihood is, based on their past ability, they will get the 31st shot in too.

I have thought about saints that knew their destiny a lot. Jesus knew his destiny.

I guess what I am having is my own version of the agony in the garden. I don’t want to suffer and I know it is coming and there is nothing I can do to avoid it.

You came here with a series of problems, hopefully you are now equipped with a series of solutions.

See a good recommended psychologist then.
I do not know about astrology but for some reason throughout the years you have kept paying attention to this stuff.

A good psychogist may help too.

A priest who doesn’t know how to counsel you? Is there a language barrier?
I’m confused, priests are trained to tackle anything and everything.
Your title says “having a major problem with astrology”.
now it was just a few minutes eons ago. 🤔
I guess I’ll unsubscribe.

I think you either need to see a different clergy person or tell the priest you are currently seeing it’s okay for them to do research or consult with a superior and get back to you.

If you haven’t been told that in certain terms, then that is disappointing to say the least.

I’m thinking the priests stopped talking to you because you wouldn’t listen. You have had the sacraments and prayers of the church. The Astrologist was likely a charlatan who made his suppositions based on a keen sense of probibility.

Ever watch the TV show “Psych”? It’s a comedy but it’s based on the very real principle that a well-trained mind can put together clues and appear to be calling on supernatural powers.

You bet… And it isn’t so uncommon to see people drawn to believe in them.
At best, we can warn the priest and others when this sort of esotherical characters are around.
They cause much harm. And normally they will be around people who can pay for it. And sometimes much.

The unfortunate part of the show was that for some, itis more fact than fiction. I watched a ton of 60 Minutes and 20/20 as a kid. They proved time and time again that nearly every one of those who claimed supernatural powers were just only slightly above average at guessing without context clues. With misleading cues–such as a person dressed up completely different wardrobe got a much different “reading” than they did as dressed normally.

I agree. And when they get to draw people into their theories, even dressed very normally, it is like speaking to a wall. One is the odd one out for not seeing how good these " gurus" are…
As they come, they disappear. They look for money, and move about…

Yes. One of my mom’s good friends went to one at the fair. She was there with her boyfriend and sons from a previous marriage.

The fortune teller told her that she’d be blessed with a child in her “old age”.

She and her boyfriend eventually got married and they had a child. For several decades she felt extremely guilty, until someone who used to be into fortune telling told her what an easy spot she was. Not too young, extremely vulnerable, lacking a good support system, having too many responsibilities to think critically and excited by the potential ease of her future.

Specific things she predicted are still coming true and they are really picking up the pace.
An astrological reading does not cause things to happen, so what is it that you are seeking regarding that reading?

That this happened 13 or 14 years ago, and your still reeling from it suggests that you may have some deeper issues to explore. It is true that we are forbidden to consult with fortune tellers and the like, but you have developed a very unhealthy attachment to this experience. You may have “paddled your own canoe” to these outcomes the astrologer forecasted.

In any case you need to find a Priest who is willing to help you break this unhealthy situation your in. Novenas, and diligent work and effort to put this behind you. If it makes you feel better, there are Catholic deliverance prayers you can use. Just stay away from the St. Michael long prayer per Pope Emeritus Benedict.

Every priest I have seen either wants to go into denial and not discuss it by cutting me off and saying, “Don’t listen to it”, which doesn’t really address the issue. One actually tried to dismiss what I was saying, which is understandable initially, but after I explained everything in detail he looked in shock/out of his depth and said something to the effect of, “I don’t know what to say.”

Or they admit that the predictions were real predictions which have come true, and have no way to calm me down because based on everything that has already come true (every single prediction) it is almost a foregone conclusion that the remaining predictions will occur.

The only way for us to help you is if you provide specifics about the predictions.
