At what point in the canonization process is it no longer appropriate to have a Mass said for the repose of someone’s soul?
But the point is that if a person is already in heaven, there’s no need to offer Mass for them.God exists outside of time. Prayer is always appropriate.
Bad choice of words. I meant to say that“already” is a temporal word. “heaven” is an eternal word. Beatification and canonisation are signs from the temporal church that someone’s life is an example for us to gain our eternal reward. It is an act of spiritual mercy to pray for the dead. Beatification and canonisation are not intended to be signs that an individual no longer requires our prayers.
I stand corrected…again…I think what we want to say here is that
canonized saints do not need our prayers for the repose of their souls.
I think you need to correct the correction.I stand corrected…again…
It’s been one of those days.
