Greetings, friends. My wife and I are trying to decide if we should have a third child or not. We have two beautiful little girls, and we both feel that our family is not quite complete However…
The thought scares the heck out of me. We both need to work to keep our modest house in a nice town. My wife has already gone through a layoff where she lost her good, high paying job and had to take a not so good, much lower paying job. Were she to stay home with the baby, we would be spend more money each month that we take in. Were she to continue working, we’d have to pay for daycare as well has have the unbelievable stress of having a baby–and two other little kids!–while we both worked.
Also, I’m going to be 43 (my wife is ten years younger than me). I am a very hands-on daddy…but I don’t know if I can do two years of sleeplessness again.
To put it simply, I am afraid of the future. Food costs more. Gas costs more. Health insurance costs more. School tuition costs more. I have a good job, but it doesn’t pay enough to support us all, and I’m not willing to give up my job security in this economy, if I even could find another job.
And, no, we are not using birth control other than the ‘two kids, two working parents’ method, which is very effective!
I could really use of advice. Thanks.
