Maybe it’s just because I am a woman, perhaps men have a different perspective, but there is no way any woman could call having a child selfish because she is sacrificing lots of labor and attention and heartache to raise that child. I just can’t see that level of sacrifice as being selfish.

I’m glad Norman Borlaug’s mom didn’t abort him. He is the father of the Green Revolution…ag science feeding the world…didn’t listen to the Malthusian chicken littles but just went about solving the problem. Let’s have lots more babies like this!!!

As the lady in the article so clearly demonstrated, she simply had an abortion. They keep on having sex but will use an abortion like many of us use a towel to dry our hands.

For these people the world is more of a living breathing entity then any person is let alone an innocent baby. It truly saddens me as to the way these people think. But what saddens me even more is when these women get older and have no families or children. The pain and suffering of these women has not even begun. Look at all the nursing homes with the elderly patients who’s kids don’t come to visit and the saddness it brings. The ederly that never had kids, will never even know the joys of that saddness but will know something much worse.😦

The little footprints we all should seek have nothing to do with carbon but come with the pitter patter of little feet and a smile like the sun.

Isn’t an abortion a waste of energy? When you could have avoided being pregnant just by not engaging in sex. Of course they really are not that interested in sacrificing anything that they really want. I think it is just finding an excuse for one’s own selfishness.

Having children is selfish, but slaying your own child to have a carefree lifestyle is not? :confused:

The callous side of me says it’s probably best that this lady not reproduce anyway…but the pastoral side of me is screaming that she needs help. Such a justification for abortion does not stem from a sound mind. 😦

There is no justification for abortion that does. Sin has dulled our intellects - hers more than most from the sounds of it.

I agree. It sounds like they care less for the aborted babies than I do about spoiled food I’m discarding because it could make me ill.

Speaking of which, I wonder if they grow their own food or if they rely on other terrible, destructive humans to do it for them. Ditto for health-care, entertainment, etc…

After a glance at your finanical records and spending habits, I have determined that “You” are not allowed to have children because you don’t make enough money to feed children given your current lifestyle. Yes, you are to poor, for children.

Hitler followed the same basic philosphy about 70 years ago. That worked out really well for people…
 
I would say that the opposite is selfish. Child free philosophy is wrong. It is selfish in that people want to keep children out of their lives for selfish reasons.

So you went to the Catholic Adoption Agency too? Odd how a church organization/charity can say it when it comes to a person wanting to adopt, but when it comes to a fertile person they so go forth and breed without a care, because God will provide. Appearantly adoptive parents are not part of the God will provide situation.
 
So none of you guys get anything out of raising children, it is all pain and suffering and you loath them completely because of your childrens endless selfishness destroying your life.

Please be honest, parents get a lot of rewards from raising children, much more than what you put into them, or thats what my parents and grandparents believed and taught me.

I think its disgusting both sides Im hearing in this arguement children are bad both ways here.

I’m afraid you’re wrong there.

I’ve seen plenty of woman where the child isn’t a gift, they’re a trophy. The worse cases when they are means to live out unfulfilled dreams.

A lot of teen age girls get pregnant so that they can have someone to love, which is selfish, not to mention very, very sad. The child should be the result of love, not the substitution for it.

On the OP: be fruitful and multiply. That’s a commandment.

children: God’s way of saying it is very good, and the world should go on.

Yes, they are coming up with excuses because they can’t give any reasons for their self-centerness. Nor any indication of its benefits for society, or the world.

Btw, if you put every family in a regular size house (like on a city block), you can fit the entire population of the world in Texas, and the rest of the planet would be empty. So stop with the overcrowding. That is sooooo 70s. We know better now.

May the Lord bring a swift end to a world that seeks to exist at the expense of its own inhabitants. This planet exists for man, not the reverse.

True, the State can only exist if there are people to work and produce things, … What?! You mean if my nation’s birthrate is below replacement level there will eventually be more old retired people and less young working people? What?! Social Security won’t work under those conditions? Hmm, … I did always want to retire some day …

Maybe time to re-think this whole Green “religion” thing, with its primary dogma of “Humans bad, Earth good”.
 
Well, look on the bright side, now that these people aren’t breeding, they aren’t teaching their spawn these horrific ideas, and therefore maybe there will be less and less of them until they “save the environment” by ridding us of this madness!

(not that I am saying this is a good thing. I am quite nauseated)
 
I only wish we’d been more selfish and had more than four children. Children are a blessing and give us hope to carry on. They are an opportunity to mold new human beings into caring, responsible adults.
