Hi everyone. I have been having some doubts about Catholicism. The only real doubt I’m having is “What if Catholicism is wrong and the evangelical denominations are right?”. Please pray for me that I would remain faithful to the Catholic Church.

Okay…lets go down this path slowly…Slow down. What would make you think this? [read my links or end up like I did…coming Home with 5 instead of just myself.]

I will pray for you.
I had my doubts ,too, and someone prayed for me…

:::holding you up in prayer:::

Praying…

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Praying for you!! 🙂

(Which one of the many, many Evangelical churches would be right, if the Catholic Church is wrong? Evangelical Lutheran? Evangelical Methodist? Evangelical Baptist? Evangelical Reformed Baptist? etc.)

Well, ‘which’ evangelical denomination would be right?

There are several, aren’t there, and each one is ‘different’. . .and none of them have the Real Presence, apostolic succession, were ‘around’ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the canon of the Scripture, etc. for starters.

Do not quit studying, praying, and asking questions of people who know the faith. Dont do like many who have already left by leaving with unanswered questions and then getting bad answers from persons who are not in communion with the church.
Will pray for your desire to learn more about the faith.🙂

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I really don’t know why I had the doubts. It was weird really. But Satan has been tempting me to go back to my Evangelical roots a number of times in the past few days. 😦 Thankfully, I have been able to resist so far. Also, my current doubts about Catholicism have gone away. Thank you all.

PRAISE GOD!!! YAY! Our Lord has opened your eyes! I am so glad you have seen the truth again! You remain in my prayers! God Bless you.

Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament loves you dearly!!!

Holly,

Haven’t you posted before about your doubts? Haven’t you been struggling for some time?

How involved are you in your parish?

I can’t help but wonder if you got involved in a Bible Study, a Pro-Life Group, that this wouldn’t help you. I think we sometimes feel drawn to Protestant groups because of their social aspect.

Just giving you some food for thought.

I will pray for you tonight.

Oh, sorry, didn’t realize this was the Prayer Intentions thread. Please don’t answer me, I don’t want a Mod getting my goat…😛

Every time I feel these kinds of doubts, I pray a Hail Mary and the Prayer to St. Michael. (If you ever feel like you are being blocked from going to Confession - things keep going wrong, or getting in your way - someone comes over, or the car won’t start, etc., the Prayer to St. Michael opens the way - it’s pretty amazing, actually.)

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary

Holly,
I’ve had doubts too…everyone goes through this. I even wondered a few times what it would be like to go back to the church of Christ…and then reality sets in…it’s not just having the Eucharist…it’s believing in the Eucharist. The same is true for all the sacraments. All of them are scripturally founded. You need to refresh you memory, as I do, what these passages are in the bilbe…but go further and read some of the referenced on CA to read some apologetics.

Further, remember that Catholics are not the only presence from the early Church still here on earth…The Holy Orthodox [catholic] Church also have the same beliefs. Sure they see things different …but truth is that if you begin to read their beliefs…it sounds Catholic…that’s because the early church was Catholic. Evangelicals are truly missing a whole bunch of things. There is so much I wish I could share here…but praying to the Father would be most appropriate during times like these. It is good to pray directly to God. It is very appropriate and encouraged. Intersession of the Saints may not bring the comfort you’re looking for during moments like these. But personally, rather than praying a wonderfully written devotional prayer I’d talk to the Blessed Mother and tell her like your mother what’s going on. Talk to your guardian angel. I think the most neglected imortal being is our guardian angels. You should ask you gardian angel to pray for you. Crack you bible open…read a few chapters and reflect.

Get involved more…go to adoration where ever you can find it. Do something good for someone anomymously if possible.

What’s really bothering you…the many confused Catholics that don’t do what they’re supposed to do? I understand that. It’s heart breaking to embrace a faith that arrogant Catholics don’t practice…and turn around and act like they know better or even worst …that it doesn’t matter.

You are in my prayers.

:signofcross:

Ponder the words of scripture: “Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in You” Which evangelical sect follows these direct commands of the Lord.?

True. The Jews HAD to EAT the sacrificial lamb during the Passover. 👍

Praying very hard for you! I believe Catholicism is the one true faith. I absolutely love it! Pray, attend Mass frequently, volunteer to help others less fortunate than yourself.

Lord, to whom shall I go?

As soon as I turn from this Church, I’m forced to choose only among faiths which differ from the earliest Christians, and which teach not to look to traditional teaching, but Scripture alone–a teaching which is itself traditional, and which say go by the Bible alone, but then tell me how I must interpret the Bible.

Peace.
John

Hi there! I can understand, I’m going through some doubts myself. Will :gopray2: for ya.

Hi Holly;

Probably one of the biggest misconceptions about Catholics, is that we don’t ‘evangelize.’ (thus we are compared to evangelicals, as they are evangelizing, and we are a group who just follows rules, etc…outlined by ‘men.’) The truth is, is that we are truly called to evangelize…thus Pope JP2’s: the ‘new evangelization,’ that he called all Catholics to be a part of. We are often misviewed (is that a word? lol) by non Catholics as not being true Christians, because of the above mentioned sentiments. I have heard it said as such on some non Catholic radio programs, and it just isn’t so. Catholics are called to evangelize–to witness and live out their faith–and serve as vehicles for Christ to work through, to save souls, and lead them to Him.🙂

So, I will pray for you in your journey as a Truth seeker. We are all on a journey, and I hope that my perspective helped a bit?
